Introduction to the resources in the Self Service Area The following is a guide to the types of records we hold and the areas we may cover within the Self Service Area of the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service. The Self Service Area has the same opening hours as the Hive: 8.30am to 10pm 7 days a week. You are welcome to browse and use these resources during these times, and an additional guide called 'Guide to the Self Service Archive Area' has been developed to help. This is available in the area or on our website free of charge, but if you would like to purchase your own copy of our guides please speak to a member of staff or see our website for our current contact details. If you feel you would like support to use the area you can book on to one of our workshops 'First Steps in Family History' or 'First Steps in Local History'. For more information on these sessions, and others that we hold, please pick up a leaflet or see our Events Guide at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/waas. About the Guide This guide is aimed as a very general overview and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of resources. Detailed information is available in our specific handlists. These expanded guides and indexes are available in the Self Service Area or please see our website or email us for further information. Some quick notes on our resources The Newspapers column has been completed in instances where we hold area specific newspapers, for example the Malvern Gazette, however we hold the County- wide Berrows Worcester Journal. A specific handlist for newspapers is available on the website. The wills we hold are for the Diocese of Worcester and as such some are outside the County of Worcestershire. Advice and information is provided without charge but please note that we do make a charge for any limited enquiry searches we undertake. Please see our enquiries policy on the website for details. We are confident that our current provision is one that not only delivers a broad and bal- anced curriculum but keeps everyone safe at the same time. We’re doing everything to limit the chances of spreading illness but we must be ready for any eventuality. Now is the time to be proactive, so over the summer and into the start of this term, the leadership team evaluated our readiness for further remote learning. You might remember that we listened to your views on home learning in a recent survey. We are also grateful to those who made use of our key stage email service, which led to some im- portant feedback about how we might continue to improve our online learning provision. Your comments challenged us to think about what more we can do, and so in collaboration with all teaching staff, we have adapted our approach to remote learning. We feel well-prepared to help pupils learn at home if they need to self-isolate, and to continue education for all pupils in the event of localised school closures. Our aim is to make sure that, if the time comes, we’re providing the right support for you and your child at home. So what’s new? We’ve purchased new learning platforms which will enable us to deliver remote learning in an instant.

    Rocks along the trail The Abberley and Malvern Hills Geopark .... ....is one of a new generation of landscape designations Sedimentary rocks are made up of particles deposited that have been created specifically for the interest of the in layers. They usually form on the sea floor, in lakes and rivers, or in deserts. These responses total 66 pages and it was felt that this was too great to include in total within this appendix. Instead we have included copies of the summaries we used at one of the consultation events. If anyone wishes to see the full schedule of comments this can be e.mailed to them if they send a request to [email protected] 224 Households Responded To Our Questionnaire PARISH LIFE 1.8 Parish Life – What Else You Said • 52 people commented upon what they like. • 7 liked the walks and footpaths. • 11 liked the convenient location of our villages. • 11 also thought that we are a friendly community. • Two interesting comments were: Hanley Swan and Hanley Castle village centres are 'ideal' - an idea of how a village should look and feel. These intangible features require protection and considerate development within the boundaries. One parish but Hanley Castle and Hanley Swan are different villages. They have nothing in common. Please do not confuse matters by assuming they are one. As an issue of heritage it is important that they retain their own identities.

Home Choice Plus has been designed to improve access to affordable housing. The advantage is that you only register once and the scheme allows you to view and bid on available properties for which you are eligible across all of the districts. Home Choice Plus has been developed by a number of Local Authorities and Housing Associations working in partnership. Home Choice Plus is a way of allocating housing and advertising other housing options across the participating Local Authority areas. (Home Choice Plus will also be used for advertising other housing options such as private rents and intermediate rents).
