Bitcoin Central & Eastern European Conference BITCOIN CENTRAL & EASTERN EUROPEAN CONFERENCE “PRIHODNOST IN POSLOVNE PRILOŽNOSTI ” Konferenca bo potekala v Ljubljani, 11. in 12. septembra v Hotelu Slon. Gregor Knafelc, GreCom Business Development Company . Steve Beauregard, CEO of GoCoin (Keynote Speaker) . Christian Ander, CEO & Founder of BTCX Sweden . Elizabeth Ploshay, Individual Seat at Bitcoin Foundation . Abdul Haseeb Awan, Co-Founder of Bitacces Canada . Josh Zerlan, Operation Manager of Butterfly Labs . Jesse Heaslip, CEO of Bex.io . Alexis Roussel, Vice President of The Pirate Party (Switzerland) . Radoslav Albrecht, CEO & Founder of Bitbond . Stephan Tual, Head of Communications at Ethereum . Jean-Louis Schiltz, Legal advisor, Professor at University of Luxembourg. Bivši minister v Luksembruški vladi. Bivši director Skypa Europe. Bivši direktor Skype Global. Stanislav Wolf, Vice President of Product Development at Yacuna AG . Luka Pušič, President of Bitcoin Association Slovenia . Ratko Rudić, Blockr.io . Matija Mazi, Software Developer at JBoss . Matjaž Pajk, Barrister at the Dušan Korošec & Barristers Law Firm . Deborah Thoren-Peden, Partner at Pillsbury Law.

  • Romanian Political Science Review Vol. XXI, No. 1 2021
Romanian Political Science Review vol. XXI, no. 1 2021 The end of the Cold War, and the extinction of communism both as an ideology and a practice of government, not only have made possible an unparalleled experiment in building a democratic order in Central and Eastern Europe, but have opened up a most extraordinary intellectual opportunity: to understand, compare and eventually appraise what had previously been neither understandable nor comparable. Studia Politica. Romanian Political Science Review was established in the realization that the problems and concerns of both new and old democracies are beginning to converge. The journal fosters the work of the first generations of Romanian political scientists permeated by a sense of critical engagement with European and American intellectual and political traditions that inspired and explained the modern notions of democracy, pluralism, political liberty, individual freedom, and civil rights. Believing that ideas do matter, the Editors share a common commitment as intellectuals and scholars to try to shed light on the major political problems facing Romania, a country that has recently undergone unprecedented political and social changes. They think of Studia Politica. Romanian Political Science Review as a challenge and a mandate to be involved in scholarly issues of fundamental importance, related not only to the democratization of Romanian polity and politics, to the “great transformation” that is taking place in Central and Eastern Europe, but also to the make-over of the assumptions and prospects of their discipline. They hope to be joined in by those scholars in other countries who feel that the demise of communism calls for a new political science able to reassess the very foundations of democratic ideals and procedures.

Vi fördömer all politisk censur.

  • Pirateparty Report PP-EU Conference Manchester
pirateparty Report PP-EU Conference Manchester Stefan Thöni 3.12.2012 As an International Coordinator of the Pirate Party Switzerland I visited the PP-EU Conference in Manchester on December 1st and 2nd. As at the Barcelona conference there where many Pirate Parties present with their delegate, delegated to others or participated remotely. Very little progress was achieved in the negotiations towards the founda- tion of a European Pirate Party. Not only where none of the major points tackled but some progress achieved in Barcelona may have been undone. I have serious doubts as to whether a European Pirate Party can be founded before 2014 using this process. I also have my reservations about the ef- fectiveness of such a construct, once established. The same concerns have been voice by delegates from other pirate parties. Many thanks go to: • Jack Alnutt for the organization of the event, • The Pirate Party UK as gracious hosts. The agenda was only known one day in advance. The disarray can be partly attributed Julia Reda, who was designated chairwoman, suddenly taking ill and not being able to join the con- ference. But mostly the problem arises from a lack of communication between the involved pirate parties.

  • Political Partisanship and Support for Direct Democracy
Political Partisanship and Support for Direct Democracy Underlying motivations for the support for direct democracy among different electorates Quita Muis ANR: 129554 17 July 2017 First-Year Paper Research Master Social and Behavioral Sciences Tilburg University Abstract Research has shown differences in support for direct democracy between new-left and populist right electorates, raising the question of which motivations underlie this support among the different electorates. It was expected that the populist right electorate grounds its support for direct democracy in their preferences for anti-institutionalism and exclusivity, whereas for the new-left electorate it was expected that their support is grounded in the preferences for non-conformity and inclusivity. Based on European Social Survey data for ten European countries it could be concluded that anti- institutionalism indeed motivates the populist right to be in favour of direct democracy, and that the preference for inclusivity underlies this support among the new-left. However, both conclusions are dependent on the definition of direct democracy, which suggests that the understanding of this concept is ambiguous both in the literature and for the different electorates. At the end of the paper, the wider theoretical relevance of the findings are discussed, and recommendations for future research are given. Direct Democracy Since the 1970s, national survey research has shown undiminished support for referendums among Dutch citizens (Den Ridder, Dekker, van Houwelingen & Schrijver, 2016). The aim of political decision making by referendums, or „direct democracy‟ (Canovan, 1999, p. 2), is giving more power to the public by letting them have direct influence on important political decisions (Canovan, 1999; Kriesi, 2005).
