It will be named Coop Norden and is estimated to have a turnover of 80 billion SEK (roughly U.S. $8 billion), a 29% market share and 26,000 employees. Coop Norden’s headquarters will be located in Gothenburg, Sweden and the company launch is scheduled for January 1, 2002. "Our vision is that Coop Norden will be the leading and most innovative retailer in the Nordics with a consumer cooperative identity," Roland Svensson of KF Sweden said. What prompted the merger was the recent increase in competition from large international chains and the pace of changes in the industry.

Ørjan Aasen og Hallgeir Aspli Veileder: Petter Bjerksund Masterutredning i økonomi og administrasjon Finansiell økonomi/Økonomisk styring NORGES HANDELSHØYSKOLE Dette selvstendige arbeidet er gjennomført som ledd i masterstudiet i økonomi- og administrasjon ved Norges Handelshøyskole og godkjent som sådan. Godkjenningen innebærer ikke at Høyskolen eller sensorer innestår for de metoder som er anvendt, resultater som er fremkommet eller konklusjoner som er trukket i arbeidet. Sammendrag I denne utredningen undersøkes hvilke faktorer som påvirker gjeldsandelen i Coop sine største samvirkelag, og i hvilken grad disse resultatene kan forklares av etablerte teorier for kapitalstruktur. Først presenteres relevant teori, hvor Pecking Order, Market Timing og Trade- Off Theory legger grunnlaget for hypotesene i oppgaven. Disse teoriene blir sammen med tidligere empiri benyttet til å velge fem selskapsspesifikke og to makroøkonomiske forklaringsvariabler som skal inngå i den kvantitative analysen. Hypotesene blir testet ved å gjennomføre to multiple regresjonsanalyser bestående av paneldata for de 15 største samvirkelagene i Coop Norge i perioden 2001-2017. De mest betydningsfulle faktorene for å forklare gjeldsandelen er størrelse (+), andel varige driftsmidler (+), pengemarkedsrente (+), skatt (-) og lønnsomhet (-). Vi kan vise at alle disse faktorene har hatt signifikant betydning for våre data i perioden. Variabelen inflasjon synes derimot ikke å ha noen betydning for kapitalstrukturen. Det mest interessante funnet relaterer seg til rentenivåets påvirkning. Her kan vi vise til et funn som skiller seg fra både teori og empiri. Den økonomiske betydningen er likevel av begrenset verdi da flere av regresjonskoeffisientene er lave. Utredningen viser dessuten at etablert teori innen kapitalstruktur delvis kan overføres til samvirkelag, da enkelte av våre funn er i tråd med Trade-Off Theory og Pecking Order Theory.
