Summer Theme: Fan the Flames “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:6-7 (NIV)

There is an old campfire song “Pass It On” that starts with the line, “It only takes a spark to get a fire going.” Actually, a spark is only one of three components necessary to get a fire going. The others are oxygen and fuel.

The same can be said for our faith. We must have the Trinity present: The Father, who creates and breathes life into us; the Son, who fuels our faith; and the Holy Spirit, which sparks the fire of faith in us all. These three areas, as well as keeping the fire going in our challenging times and spreading the fire to others, will be the focus of our Bible studies and daily learning this summer.

As the campfire song concludes “You spread his love to everyone, you want to pass it on.”
