Each golf course would have been memorable in its own right but when you play five of the world’s top 30 course in eight days its hard to explain what kind of experience this provided for each of us. This was truly a lifetime gift that gave our current players a lifetime of memories and is a trip that every Seminole golfer can look forward to during their Florida State career.”– Trey Jones he Florida State men’s golf team enjoyed the trip of a lifetime as five members of the team played nine of the world’s most historic golf courses including Royal Turnbury and the St.Andrew’s Old and New Courses in August of 2003. Trey Jones,Florida State’s first- year head coach, made the trip with senior Tim Vickers, juniors Matt Adcock,Rusty Mosley and Mark Sestilio along with sopho- more Adam Wallace and assistant coach Mark Donaldson. Carl Domino,a Florida State University alumnus and current member Tof the State of Florida House of Representatives, endowed the trip as he has many others like it for the Seminole men’s and women’s golf teams. Unless I’m playing in the British Open, I don’t think I’ll have the chance to play those courses again. As you approach the first tee at St. Andrews, you know how much history there is but you can’t help be more excited than you have ever been on the golf course. Jones will count on the continued strong play of all five players with Mosley and Adcock standing out as the Seminoles’ top returning players.Mosley and Adcock played in nine tournaments each while shooting a combined 16 rounds of par or better,34 rounds with scores of 75 or better and averaging fewer than 74.00 strokes per round. Both play- ers will have to emerge as team leaders and continue to improve on their stroke averages for the Seminoles to climb into the national rankings. Mosley,a junior, led the Seminoles with a career-low 73.76 average last year and played in nine of 12 tournaments as he re-solidified his position in the starting lineup.A regular starter as a freshman,Mosley redshirted in 2002 to work on his mechanics and has benefited tremendously from that sea- son away from competition. “Rusty is a talented ball striker and an outstanding putter,” said Jones.“The key for Rusty will be for him to learn to hit dif- rey Jones,in his first season as the ferent types of shots in competition and to trust his natural head coach at Florida State, enters the ability to execute under pressure.” 2003-04 season looking to return the Adcock,Florida State’s most surprising player in 2003, golfing spark to the Seminole program.

2018 ANNUAL REPORT The DNA Learning Center is an operating unit of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, extending its traditional research and postgraduate education mission to the college, pre-college, and public levels. Founded in 1988, the DNALC is the world’s first science center devoted entirely to genetics education. The mission of the DNA Learning Center is to prepare students and families to thrive in the gene age. We envision a day when all elementary students are exposed to principles of genetics and disease risk; when all high school students have the opportunity to do hands-on experiments with DNA; and when all families have access to genetic information they need to make informed health care choices. Secondary education in China is ruled by the omnipresent Gaokao, an extremely high-stakes exam taken in the 12th grade that determines a student’s college placement. The rote memorization of facts required by this exam has made science labs a luxury throughout China and relegated what little practical work is done to after-school clubs.

It brings me pride to celebrate the many successes of the past fiscal year, and I am Fgrateful every day for the dedicated work of the faculty, students, staff, alumni, and friends who build upon our institution’s historic strengths and lead FSU to even greater national prominence. Florida State’s reputation of academic excellence is rising throughout the state and the nation. Florida State moved up five places—for the second year in a row—in the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges 2018” guidebook. The University’s four-year graduation rate is the highest ever reported by a state university in Florida and places FSU among the top 25 universities nationally. FSU’s “Take 15” campaign, which encourages students to take a full course load beginning with their first semester, contributed significantly to our outstanding graduation rate.
