Imperial and District Overview The Imperial and District community consists of the Town of Imperial, the Village of Liberty, and the Rural Municipality of Big Arm No. 251. Imperial provides restaurants, a bakery, area accommodations, proximity to the Etters Beach Regional Park, a medical clinic (with a doctor coming in on Wednesdays), senior citizens housing, child health clinic, home care services, foot care clinics, and the Bourassa & Associate Rehabilitation Centre. Town of Imperial Size and Location The Town of Imperial is a community of 360 people located off Highway # 2, near the shores of Last Mountain Lake, in the central part of Saskatchewan. The land area of the Imperial is 1.23 square kilometers, and the population density is 292.4 people per square kilometer. Facts about Imperial ● The Town of Imperial was incorporated in 1911 and became a Town in 1962. ● The name of Imperial fits the pattern of names given to other communities established along the line—such as Holdfast, Stalwart, and Liberty—and reflects the traits and glory associated with the British Empire. ● Last Mountain Lake is located 23 kilometers east and has excellent boating and fishing. Last Mountain Lake National Wildlife Area, North America's oldest bird sanctuary is located on the north end of Last Mountain Lake. ● Thirty minutes north of Imperial is Watrous (39k) and Manitou Beach (45k) , a popular dual community where you find a lake that is unique to North America and one of only three bodies of water on the entire planet like it.
