Born in San Francisco, raised in Sebastopol. Attended Apple Blossom/Twin Hills then Analy, graduating in 2007. Analy High helped shape where I wanted to go in life. I knew I wanted to do something vastly different than my peers, I wanted to leave the small town and see the world. I applied for and was accepted into the US Military Academy (also known as West Point), graduating in 2012. At West Point I continued some of the skills and hobbies I had discovered while at Analy to include french, traveling, and .

While I had been an avid backpacker and climber in high school, I began high altitude mountaineering while in Elyse Ping Medvigy college. We did not get summer holidays at West Point but any time I was given off I used to travel the world and climb. To date I have climbed Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Denali, Rainier, Shasta, numerous mountains in the Sierra Nevadas, Rockies, Alps, and now Everest. I had been trying to climb in the Himalayas for years and when this organization (USX) began I immediately jumped at the opportunity. I had lost two Soldiers in Afghanistan and many of my Soldiers suffered from PTSD, so the cause behind the organization was near and dear to my heart. I took a photo of each of the Soldiers to the summit to honor their memories. The entire goal of the climb was to raise awareness for PTSD and mental health issues in our Armed Forces. Below is more of a bio: -Analy High-graduated 2007, left for boot camp at West Point two weeks after graduation. Getting interviewed at the north col on Everest (at 23,000ft). -US Military Academy-graduated 2012. Served as the Regimental S1 then S3 (high up leadership positions in the Corp of Cadets), attended French Airborne school and US Airborne school, interned at the US Embassy in the Republic of Congo. -Commissioned a 2LT in the Field Artillery in the US Army in May 2012. Served a year in South Korea (near the North Korean border) at Camp Casey as a Rocket Platoon leader. After had three weeks in the states then deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan as the first female first support officer (FSO) in the Army (they had just opened the branch up to women). Served with a light infantry unit in Afghanistan (all male of course) going on mounted and dismounted patrols through Kandahar. After was stationed at Fort Carson, CO as a fire direction officer (FDO). Applied and tried out for ARSOF (US Army Special Operations Force) and was selected to be a Civil Affairs Officer (CA). Currently I just got to Fort Bragg, NC where I will do 1.5 yrs of schooling (regional, language, special operations etc training) then I will serve three years as a CA Officer. I am hoping to be regionally aligned with Africa (my favorite continent!) where I will be a subject matter expert on everything Africa and all my deployments will be to the continent.

Summit photo, holding a picture of the two Soldiers we lost in Afghanistan.

I am hoping to return as soon as possible to the Himalayas and continue climbing (we'll see when the Army will let me do this!) My next goal is to do a twofer (two 8000m peaks climbed back to back) without supplemental oxygen. I'm hoping to do Cho Oyu and Shishapangma (both just over 8000m or 26,000ft in Tibet).

Group photo, last day at base camp (17,000ft). I'm the only girl, so easy to find!
