About the Campaigns

What is NO MORE? NO MORE is a unifying public awareness and engagement campaign focused on ending domestic violence and sexual assault. Using its signature blue symbol to increase visibility and foster greater dialogue, NO MORE seeks to break social stigma, normalize the conversation around domestic violence and sexual assault, and increase resources to address these urgent issues. NO MORE is aligned with hundreds of organizations working at the local, state and national levels on prevention, advocacy, and services for survivors. www.NoMore.org ONE BILLION RISING is a global call to women survivors of violence and those who love them to gather safely in community outside places where they are entitled to justice – courthouses, police stations, government offices, school administration buildings, work places, sites of environmental injustice, military courts, embassies, places of worship, homes, or simply public gathering places where women deserve to feel safe but too often do not. It is a call to survivors to break the silence and release their stories – politically, spiritually, outrageously – through art, dance, marches, ritual, song, spoken word, testimonies and whatever way feels right. www.onebillionrising.org

Take 25 is a campaign created by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) that asks families, educators, law-enforcement officers and trusted adults to take 25 minutes to talk to children about safety. Created in honor of National Missing Children’s Day which is annually recognized on May 25th, Take 25 helps educate communities on safety risks and ways to better protect the children in their lives. During the months of April and May, communities are invited to join NCMEC in this grassroots effort by promoting ongoing safety conversations between children and their families. www.take25.org NWCAVE's No More Summit 2015 NO MORE Summit Attendee - General Information January 17, 2015 at the Hilton Hotel – 7:30am to 5pm 301 West 6th Street, Vancouver, WA 98660 (USA)

...Crystal loved kettle corn, Diet Coke and Red Vines...

Lane & Patty Judson’s daughter Crystal was fatally shot by the husband she was divorcing - Tacoma Washington's Police Chief David Brame. The shooting came one day after city officials publicly announced that Crystal's claims of abuse and threats would not be investigated because it was a "private matter." It was a very public murder-suicide though, executed in a shopping center parking lot with their 2 young children running to them. Chief Brame died that day but Crystal lingered. All of us here in Tacoma held our breath for that week, praying for a miracle that just could not be. She had taken a contact headshot with a police-issue Glock.

Her family stayed with her in the hospital until she died, and it was during that time Lane was given the time to whisper to his daughter... “Crystal, I’m going to do whatever I can to make sure this doesn’t ever, ever, ever happens to anyone again.”

The center is named in honor of Crystal Judson Brame. Crystal was murdered in 2003. In the lobby of the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center hangs a plaque to honor her memory. It reads as follows:

Crystal Judson Family Justice Center Dedicated to the Memory of Crystal Judson May all who walk through these doors find Strength, courage and hope.

Susan Cox Powell is the 3rd daughter of Charles and Judy Cox and was 28 years old when she was reported missing on December 7, 2009. She was born in New Mexico and lived in Alaska before her family settled in Washington State when she was a child. She and her husband later moved to Utah. Susan is a devoted mother to her two small boys and her family and friends know that she would never voluntarily be separated from them.

Susan is an outgoing, optimistic person with a servant’s heart and boundless energy. She is characterized by her faith in her Heavenly Father, her determination to provide for her children and her belief that families are forever. Her faith is an example for others, including her two boys.

Susan Powell was last seen in her home in West Valley City, Utah on December 6, 2009. Police were called on the morning of December 7th when Susan’s childcare provider became concerned that Susan did not drop her children off as scheduled. It was soon discovered that both Susan and her husband Joshua failed to report for work at their respective jobs. When no one could reach Susan or Joshua, police searched the family home, fearing that the family may have succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning. No one was in the home.

Joshua Powell eventually returned to the residence later that evening with the two children, but Susan remains missing. Joshua claimed that he took the two children camping at about midnight the night before, leaving Susan asleep or preparing for bed. As a result of their investigation, police have characterized her disappearance as suspicious with criminal overtones. The search for Susan continues.

On February 5th, 2012, Charlie Powell age 7 and Braden Powell age 5 died of smoke inhalation when their father Joshua Powell committed suicide by burning down the house he rented. During the first supervised visit following Josh’s failure to regain custody of the boys, Joshua locked the visitation supervisor out of the house, then attacked Charlie then Braden with a hatchet and set the house ablaze. Joshua left messages with his attorney and family members stating he was sorry “for all the people he had hurt.”

The Susan Cox Powell Foundation has an even stronger desire to reach out and provide assistance to other families as a legacy to our daughter Susan, and our Grandsons Charlie and Braden Powell.
