They hope to build alliances with relevant institutions that can apply international pressure to Brazil’s public and private sector actors that are now threatening indigenous and other protected lands in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. Luiz Henrique Eloy Amado, C.O.I.A.B. Legal Counsel Luiz Henrique Eloy Amado is the legal counsel of C.O.I.A.B. and an indigenous attorney from the Terena People’s village of Ipegue, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Eloy Terena, as he is commonly known, has first-hand knowledge on the situation of indigenous peoples in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest and an extensive experience on defending criminalized indigenous grass-root leaders and representing indigenous communities in land rights cases before Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court. -

Repetition as Revision: Explored through the Revision of Place in Jackie Kay’s Fiere, Kathleen Jamie’s The Tree House, and Crane, a Creative Composition by Lynn Davidson A thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in English at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand Lynn Davidson 2015 Abstract This thesis examines anaphora, parallelism, and repetends, and asks if and how these techniques of repetition allow for negotiation among meanings, contexts and possibilities in contemporary poetry. The thesis is comprised of two sections, creative and critical, with a seventy percent creative and thirty percent critical split. The critical study is based on a close analysis of anaphora and parallelism in Jackie Kay’s Fiere (2010) and repetends in Kathleen Jamie’s The Tree House (2004), while repetition is explored creatively through Crane, an original collection of poetry shaped and informed by the critical research. Crane uses techniques of formal repetition to enquire into cultural and emotional links to place, and the impact of return journeys to significant places on a reimagining of place and self. There are five sections in Crane, each of which uses repetition slightly differently to engage with questions of movement between places. The collection uses repetition to explore how ‘going back’ can be a powerful part of the process of revising identity and integrating change. -

Comunidades locales globalizadas que representan sólo el 0,25 % de la población brasileña, pero que forman parte de las primeras culturas de la sustentabilidad sobre todo el continente americano. Salir de su reserva local, es el deseo experimentado por los jóvenes Terena de Mato Grosso do Sul. El Terena, cuyo espíritu de apertura es un constante permanente, dice que su liberación pasa actualmente por las escuelas de los "blancos" como forma de supervivencia, como refuerzo cultural de su pueblo y para poder combinar sus conocimientos y sus tradiciones a los conocimientos científico-técnicos. Pretenden obtener el reconocimiento de sus plenos derechos de propiedad y desarrollarse de redes sustentables de territorios menos tributarios de las lógicas territorialistas de los Estados y del predominio del mercado. -

This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Abstract This paper analyzes the Indigenous people’s struggle for an intercultural, specific, differentiated school intended for the valorization of their culture and identity. Aiming to catechize and adapt Indigenous peoples to the western culture, settlers introduced school education as a means to make the Indians give up their identities and integrate them into the national culture. This paper evidences that the Indians have opposed the colonial school right from the start, and by means of struggle and organization, they obtained the right to an intercultural, specific, differentiated Indi- genous school. However, obtaining this right had not put an end to their struggle, as the end of co- lonial school did not mean the end of coloniality. Keywords Indigenous School, Coloniality, Identity 1. Introduction The struggle for a school oriented towards cultural diversity by questioning the school that values the hegemonic culture has characterized the last decades in Brazil. In this struggle, the Indigenous movements have stood out in the construction of an intercultural, specific, differentiated school concerned with both the valorization of their culture and the affirmation of their identities. -

There have been many studies of anti- environmentalism in the United States (Helvarg; Brick; Ehrlich and Ehrlich; Switzer) and one on the global ‘backlash’ (Rowell), but none focuses exclusively on the UK. The sole treatment of anti-environmentalism within ecocriticism comes from the United States (Buell), just like the various exposés of climate scepticism discussed in the Introduction. As this chapter will show, British climate scepticism is possessed of a prehistory and some distinctive local features that reward closer inspection. Nevertheless, the Anglo-American axis of organized anti-environmentalism is obvious: British climate sceptics such as Christopher Monckton, James Delingpole and Nigel Lawson are darlings of the American conservative think tanks (CTTs) that promulgate sceptical perspectives, while Martin Durkin’s The Great Global Warming Swindle (2007), a British documentary shown on Channel 4, includes interviews with Richard Lindzen, Patrick Michaels and Fred Singer, all prominent American sceptics. -

DOI: https://www.doi.org/10.34685/HI.2020.60.86.005 ETHNOSPORT PSYCHOLOGY: A MODEL OF TRADITIONAL GAMES OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES OF THE EASTERN AMAZON Fabio José Cardias-Gomes PhD in Education, ORCID: 0000-0003-2304-9643 Federal University of Maranhão, Research Professor of Psychology; Council member of the World Ethnosport; E-mail: [email protected] BRAZIL Abstract The present study intended to develop the ethnosport social psychology, oriented on indigenous corporality and traditional sport and games of them, with log race detailed research of the Timbira people (macro Jê language) in Eastern Amazon. It was hypothesized that log race is an ethnosport that can be consider under the Amazonian perspectivism, while the body making of Timbira people is made by this practice involves the common participation of all members of the community. Such practices are adopted the concepts of: a) ethnosport as conceived by Kylasov; b) the modern experience of traditional sports and games events of Siberians who have much in common with Brazilian, especially on the Timbira log race; c) the Amazon-Amerindian perspectivism and/or the multinaturalism versus multiculturalism originated in the concept of Viveiros-de-Castro, as well his d) Anti-Narcissistic critics, founding echo in post-Jungian and Deleuze-Guattari´s postulates. A study to establish the social psychology of ethnosport was conducted with an appeal to a qualitative method, observation included during many visits in the last five years, 2015–2019, in Timbira communities around the Indigenous Land of Timbira in Maranhão State.
