25 VILLAGE GARDENERS

Become a Village Gardener this summer and learn new skills! This popular program, under the direction of our Garden Coordinator, covers all phases of herb gardening. Each week we gather in the spirit of community to care for the garden, now in its 30th year. The program includes special workshops available only to Village Garden- ers and discounts on other Museum workshops. The program runs from May through October. Each Village Gardener is asked to contribute at least two hours per week to the maintenance of the garden. We meet every Tuesday morning at 9:00 am and/or an additional time on one evening. Gardeners are free to set their own work schedule. PRESERVATION PARTNERS

Like to work outdoors? Have experience with carpentry, painting, site work or build- ing restoration? Want to meet other people interested in historic preservation? Join us Wednesdays from 10 am - 5 pm to work on the preservation and restoration of the buildings and grounds of the Enfield Shaker Museum. Check with the Museum before you come to see what kinds of work will be going on the weeks you are avail- able to come. Bring your work gloves and be prepared to work out of doors. Lunch is provided. All levels of experience, energy, and expertise are welcome! COMMUNITY GARDEN

Run by Museum volunteers Colin and Mardy High, the Enfield Shaker Museum’s Comuunity Garden gives local people an opportunity to grow their own food, as well as spreading the meaning and practice of organic gardening. It is an extension of the ag- ricultural endeavors of the Shakers, as we are gardening in soil that they worked 185 years ago. This year there are 35 cultivated plots including two called the the Giving Garden in which we grow food for local food pantries. For more information or to rent a plot contact the Museum at (603) 632-4346 or [email protected].
