At the end of each week Sandy Not was asked to choose her favourite picture and at the end of the month the overall winner was chosen from those four photos by Rev David Barnes. They have all been so varied and who would have believed what could be achieved with wood, paper, card, glitter and a little imagination. Normally at this time we would have had the Nativity Figures going around the Village spending each night of Advent in some 90 or more houses before ending up in Church on Christmas Eve but as we are still living under the Pandemic we had to find another way for everyone to enjoy the “Nativity” story. I hope you have all enjoyed taking part and going around to look at the wonderful displays. As well as the 24 windows a thank you to everyone who put up angels, stars and lights to enhance the “journey” around the village. My thanks for taking part to..... We have recently had to ask several people to wear their mask and in some cases have had a refusal to comply. Nobody likes wearing a mask but if the community shop is to remain open, the staff and volunteers (many of whom are in the vulnerable category) as well as other customers, MUST be protected and this is the reason for this rule. If you forget your mask or do not want to wear one in the shop, then sadly you cannot come in or will be asked to leave. This includes all persons over 11years old - pulling your jumper over your mouth will not do and a properly fitted face covering is essential - as is the use of the Hand Sanitiser provided at the shop door. We fully understand that some people have a genuine medical exemption but this will need to be explained in full before accessing the shop. Non compliance for any other reason will mean that you must ask someone else to shop for you. Thank you From the Parish Council Since lockdown began the Parish Council has supported parishioners via the offer of food and hygiene boxes. This has been administered by Sophie Doyle. Sophie also has a hardship fund available for emergency support. Things continue to get more difficult for some people. So please don’t hesitate if you or your family are in need, contact Sophie in strict confidence. Sophie’s number is 07739 171274 We would like to thank all the volunteers who received and dealt with calls to the Parish Council telephone number for prescriptions and deliveries for people isolating. Also thank you to the volunteers putting together food and hygiene boxes and of course, to Sophie. These are shining examples of the many acts of kindness shown to neighbours throughout the parish during this difficult time. Thank you one and all. 5 Tom Hannaford Steel Buildings Specialist Structures Designed to Customers Specifications. We Supply &/or Erect. Shuttered Walls & Concreting. All Groundwork undertaken. We can all only hope and pray that it will be a vast improvement on its predecessor. It will of course take a while for everything to return to "normal" but taking into account the vaccines which are to be administered as quickly as is possible, we should be feeling a little more positive for the future. In my books, being positive is the only way to be and a new year can mean new beginnings for all of us. Some quotes on positive thinking;- "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." Walt Disney. He obviously followed his own good advice. " You can't leave foot prints in the sands of time if you're sitting on your butt- And who wants to leave butt prints in the sands of time." Unknown. He/she has a point though. Another good 'un is this, particularly if you are house hunting or have an important decision to make- "Follow your heart, but take your brain with you." Unknown. We can all move forward, granted, with caution, but generally speaking, we only have to look around us at the landscape by which we are fortunate enough to be surrounded and watch the birds and animals who are blissfully unaware of the woes that trouble us humans, to be aware of how lucky we actually are. 7 Farm Shop & Restaurant Our restaurant is open for Nigel Barriball Breakfast, Lunch Afternoon Tea & Sunday Roast THE SQUARE Seasonal dishes & delicious daily specials WEEK ST MARY or coffee & cake, booking advised.
