Nature has satisfied this need for spatial perception by providing most animals with at least two eyes. This stereo vision ability is the basis that allows the brain to calculate qualitative depth information of the observed scene. Another important parameter in the complex human depth perception is our experience and memory. Although it is far more difficult, a human being is even able to recognize depth information without stereo vision. For example, we can qualitatively deduce the 3D scene from most photos, assuming that the photos contain known objects [COR]. The acquisition, storage, processing and comparison of such a huge amount of information requires enormous computational power - with which nature fortunately provides us. Therefore, for a technical implementation, one should resort to other simpler measurement principles. Additionally, the qualitative distance estimates of such knowledge-based passive vision systems can be replaced by accurate range measurements.     THOMAS AMMER (EUSKIRCHEN/FLAMERSHEIM) »Angeregt durch die Methode der Geschwister Scholl« Ein Rückblick auf den Eisenberger Kreis aus dem Jahre 1965 Der hier dokumentierte Text zum »Eisenberger Kreis« aus dem Jahr 1965 war ur- sprünglich nicht zur Veröffentlichung bestimmt. Er sollte Ereignisse, Gedanken- gänge und Zusammenhänge so, wie sie kurz nach Haftentlassung der letzten Mit- glieder des »Eisenberger Kreises« erinnerlich waren, fixieren. Die damalige Zurückhaltung hinsichtlich einer Veröffentlichung hatte zwei Gründe: Die den »Freikauf« vermittelnden Rechtsanwälte Alfred Musiolik und Wolfgang Vogel sowie Mitarbeiter des Bundesministeriums für Gesamtdeutsche Fragen baten die »Freigekauften« dringend, über den »Freikauf« und die Vorgänge, die zu den Ver- haftungen und politischen Prozessen geführt hatten, zu schweigen, da zu be- fürchten sei, dass die DDR die »Freikauf«-Aktion andernfalls beenden würde. An diese Bitte haben sich die meisten der Betroffenen etwa zwei Jahre lang gehalten. Ein zweiter Grund für relatives Stillschweigen in der Öffentlichkeit, damals auch für vollständiges Verschweigen mancher Fakten und Zusammenhänge, war, dass von der Zerschlagung der Gruppe im Jahr 1958 bis zum Zeitpunkt der Frei- lassung der letzten Verurteilten 1964 »nur« sechseinhalb Jahre verstrichen waren und damit zu rechnen war, dass das MfS sich noch immer für den »Eisenberger Kreis« und sein Umfeld interessierte – ein Verdacht, der sich später bei der Durchsicht der MfS-Akten bestätigte. Die Sichtung des äußerst umfangreichen Aktenbestandes des MfS über den »Eisenberger Kreis« brachte vor allem Erkenntnisse über die Zerschlagung der Gruppe und über die Überwachung ihrer Mitglieder bis zum Ende der DDR. Das MfS hat im Zusammenhang mit dem »Eisenberger Kreis« eine solche Menge von Akten produziert, die zudem teilweise weit verstreut sind, dass sie von den Be- troffenen schwerlich jemals vollständig erfasst werden können.

    Realising the potential of interactive videodisc for education Peter Hosie Western Australian Department of Education A person making a casual examination of the literature about interactive videodisc (IVD) could be forgiven for concluding that a revolution in education and training has taken place, but as Bosco (1984, p.13) observed, "many of the articles and reports on interactive video which have been produced in the last few years are written from a stance of advocacy". A great number of claims made about IVD use in education are speculative. A good example of such exuberance is this comment by Jonassen (1984, p.2), "there is little doubt that microcomputer-controlled videodisc systems represent the most potentially powerful communication device in the history of instructional communication", or Young and Schlieve (1984, p.4), "Videodisc technology may well revolutionise education in both public and private institutions by the end of the decade". Such rhetoric is similar to that which accompanied the introduction of microcomputers into schools. Interactive videodisc technology has great potential for education but there are some important issues to be addressed. A hybrid medium The term interactive videodisc has different meanings for different people. Rapid development has resulted in a wide range of equipment and techniques complemented by a diversity of applications but there is agreement that "interactive video represents the fusion of video and computer technology" (Parsloe, 1383, p.83). Teh and Perry (1984, p.2) suggested that IVD "represents the synthesis of the instructional capabilities of television and the computer", while De Bloois (1982, p. 33) Hosie 111 suggested "..

Where information has been derived from other sources, I confirm that this has been indicated in the thesis. 2 Abstract This study examines transitions from Nazism to socialism in Brandenburg between 1945 and 1952. It explores the grassroots responses and their relative implications within the context of both punitive and rehabilitative measures implemented by the Soviet Military Administration (SMAD) and the communist Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). The present study is based on archival and oral history sources and addresses two main research questions: First, in what ways did people at the grassroots attempt to challenge the imposition of punitive measures, and did their responses have any effect on the manner in which these policies were implemented at a grassroots level? These punitive measures were designed to remove remnants of Nazism and included punitive Soviet practices, Soviet NKVD camps and denazification and sequestering. Second, to what extent did grassroots Brandenburgers participate in political organisations which were designed to integrate East Germans during the rehabilitative stage and what impact did these responses have on the post-war transition? This study focuses on the National Democratic Party and the Society for German-Soviet Friendship as well as examining wider factors which may have impeded and facilitated the processes of post-war transitions. Two main arguments are proposed.

This sounds like a failure of the Audio FM Demodulator IC, which is one of the more common chips to fail in the RCA F/G players and clones like the Zenith VP2000. Failure of this chip results in complete loss of audio on mono players or loss of one channel of audio on stereo players, depending on which of the two chips in the player has failed. RCA's stock no. for this chip is 149035 and they also gave it a generic industry stock number of CA3215E. A comparison of the circuit diagrams in the Hitachi, Toshiba, and RCA service manuals indicates that those players using a 16-pin Audio FM Demodulator IC all contain the same chip. Some of the companies listed on the CED Player Parts Sources page (try Fox-International first) may still have the part available: http://www.cedmagic.com/home/ced-parts-links.html Although the IC is generally the most likely culprit, it's also important to test the components attached to the IC to verify that the chip itself has failed and not one of the peripheral components.
