FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Nevada-based world-beat Sol’Jibe a sure bet

RENO, Nev. (Jan. 6, 2009) — Living up to its Gypsy roots, the Latin rock band Sol’Jibe is wandering north from its base camp in Reno, Nevada, to stage two shows in Spokane the first week of February with two of the area’s most popular bands. Thursday Feb. 5 finds Sol’Jibe at ZOLA! with The Groove Patrol, and on Friday Feb. 6 they’ll share the stage with Nick Vigil and The Luchadores at The Swamp Tavern.

Thursday night’s show at ZOLA! (22 W. Main Ave.) costs $3 and begins at 9:30 p.m. Friday night’s show at The Swamp Tavern (1904 W. 5th Ave.) costs $5 and begins at 9 p.m. Patrons for either show must be age 21 or older.

Sol’Jibe’s transcendent live shows blend acoustic rock, roots music, , world rhythms, and picante Latin zest into what’s dubbed “world rock for the Gypsy soul.” Perhaps best described as Dave Matthews meets the Afro-Cuban All Stars, Sol’Jibe performs upwards of 200 concerts and clinics a year primarily in 14 western states. The band performed the last two consecutive summers at the High Sierra Music Festival in Northern — this last year on the main stage. The band’s other big festival appearances in 2008 included Joshua Tree and Lightning In A Bottle in Southern California, Earthdance Northern California, Seattle Hempfest, Cirquinox Fall Equinox Music Fest in Oregon, the Lake of the Sky Music Arts & Eco Fest at Lake Tahoe, and the Spring Shakori Hills GrassRoots Fest in North Carolina.

The band’s third CD, an EP titled “New Day,” was inspired in part by an odyssey to Cuba where they studied at the National School of Music in Havana. The new Sol’Jibe disc has received a great deal of Internet radio airplay thanks in part to the band’s active participation in the SaveNetRadio Coalition’s campaign to rescind unfair royalty rate hikes (visit www.SaveNetRadio.org for details).

Winner of Harrah’s “Search for the Stars” competition, Sol’Jibe was voted Reno’s best band 2005- 2008 by the readers of the daily Reno Gazette-Journal and 2006-2008 by readers of the weekly Reno News & Review. The band has sold more than 25,000 CDs when you include their two previous releases — 2003’s “On Your Feet” and 2005’s “Marinero” — mainly at concerts and online via iTunes and CDBaby.
