Taxon Name: Glischropus javanus Chasen, 1939

Common Name(s): • English: Javan Thick-thumbed Bat Taxonomic Notes: Glischropus javanus may be conspecific with G. tylopus (Corbet and Hill 1992, Menu 1987). Assessment Information

Red List Category & Criteria: Data Deficient ver 3.1

Year Published: 2016

Date Assessed: December 24, 2015

Justification: This species is assessed as Data Deficient as it is known only from two close localities and collected only twice nearly 70 years apart. There has not been much survey work focused on this species.

It has been collected only twice, seventy years apart. Current Population Trend: Unknown

Habitat and Ecology (see Appendix for additional information) There is no information specific to this species. Members of the genus, typically recorded in or around bamboo grooves, and often cope with cultivated habitats. A specimen was collected in bamboo by A. Suyanto (U. Sinaga pers. comm). It is not usually dependent on water and it probably lives in small colonies. Other specimens determined as belonging to this species in the collections of RMNH and MZB proved to be represent different species (Csorba 2011).

Systems: Terrestrial

Threats The threats to this species are not known, but habitat loss in the lowland regions could be a threat, assuming its reliant on primary habitat.

Conservation Actions (see Appendix for additional information) This species has been collected by A. Suyato from Gunung Halimun National Park (U. Sinaga pers. comm.). Further research to determine the species' range, population status, habitats and threats is needed. Credits
