Fruits in the process of rotting which allude to the passing of time (minus the highflown rhetoric which seeks to conceal the commonplaces proper to the grape); and close beside the bunches of grapes destined for the table or for wine appear the bare stalks, with the same nobility as their own past full of tastes and smells. Andreu Maimó: the clarity of his gaze makes poetry out of all things. On canvas, in ceramic, in sculpture, in graphic art – truly worthy of being contemplated and collected – the artist’s world goes on developing in a tense stillness. I’m not sure I buy that. It was only 1500 years ago, and I don’t think Arabic then was so different from modern Arabic that millions of Arab Muslims make such an elementary mistake.
