At that time, Tianjin was one of the few open cities in China. In the attempts to attract foreign investors, the city’s sub- stantial environmental challenges proved to be critical obstacles. The reason IVL got the honour to take on this environmental challenge in Tianjin was that Sweden had impressed the Chinese by having instigating environmental authorities, and that IVL was considered to be in the frontline when it comes to applied environmental research. This is still true today. The Tianjin story is a great example of our ability and willingness to take on complex international environmental challenges. What can we do for you? Tianjin skyline. Regarding dethroned princely Houses and their legal rights Reference is made to the decision of the United Court of Bari of the 1st April 1952 in the case of the prosecutor vs. Umberto Zambrini and to the decision of the Tribunal of Pistoia of the 5th June 1964 in the case of the appeal against the penal judgment given against Francesco Mario Paternò Castello having found Prince Francesco Mario Paternò Castello di Carcaci, in his capacity as the last representative of a sovereign dynasty (the Royal House of Aragon), entitled to confer titles of nobility (the Court of Bari), respectively being the heir to the House of Paternò Castello Guttadauro di Emmanuel and legitimate holder of the same family’s rights, including the power of ius honorum which has been preserved by family tradition and which cannot disappear through dethronement (Pistoia). Further reference is made to the decision of the Ordinary Tribunal of Ragusa of the 9th May 2003, in session as an international court of arbitration, in the case between the Higher Institute of Nobiliary Law vs. Francesco Nicola Roberto Paternò Castello di Carcaci. According to the findings of the court of arbitration the following rights belong to Francesco Nicola Roberto Paternò Castello di Carcaci, in his capacity as consanguineous and descendant in a collateral line of the last sovereign of the Royal House of Aragon as his legitimate successor and as pretender to the throne: a) the quality of Royal Highness and Royal Prince of the Royal House of Aragon, Majorca and Sicily; b) the right to designate

ACTA UNIVERSITATIS UPSALIENSIS Studia Historica Upsaliensia 210 Utgivna av Historiska institutionen vid Uppsala universitet genom Torkel Jansson, Jan Lindegren och Maria Ågren 1 2 David Ludvigsson The Historian-Filmmaker’s Dilemma Historical Documentaries in Sweden in the Era of Häger and Villius 3 Dissertation in History for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy presented at Uppsala University in 2003 ABSTRACT Ludvigsson, David, 2003: The Historian-Filmmaker’s Dilemma. Historical Documentaries in Sweden in the Era of Häger and Villius. Written in English. Acta Universitatis Upsalien- sis. Studia Historica Upsaliensia 210. (411 pages). Uppsala 2003. ISSN 0081-6531. ISBN 91-554-5782-7. This dissertation investigates how history is used in historical documentary films, and ar- gues that the maker of such films constantly negotiates between cognitive, moral, and aes- thetic demands. In support of this contention a number of historical documentaries by Swedish historian-filmmakers Olle Häger and Hans Villius are discussed. Other historical documentaries supply additional examples. The analyses take into account both the produc- tion process and the representations themselves. The history culture and the social field of history production together form the conceptual framework for the study, and one of the aims is to analyse the role of professional historians in public life. The analyses show that different considerations compete and work together in the case of all documentaries, and figure at all stages of pre-production, production, and post-produc- tion. But different considerations have particular inuence at different stages in the produc- tion process and thus they are more or less important depending on where in the process the producer puts his emphasis on them.

In 1773 Gustav III transformed it into an opera band. As the only professional orchestra in nineteenth-century Sweden it also regularly gave concerts with symphonic and vocal works. Its first encounter with Wagner’s music was probably with the Tannhäuser Overture in 1856. During the twentieth century, the orchestra Tristan und Isolde grew from around sixty to almost a hundred members. Today it numbers 114. Millgramm • Forsén • Fassbender The Royal Opera Chorus Lundberg • Kyhle • Dike The Royal Opera Chorus was created from scratch in 1773 for the first Swedish opera. At the transfer to the newly built Gustavian Opera House at Gustav Adolfs Torg in 1782, it is said to have numbered eighty members. The Royal Swedish Opera Male Chorus and Orchestra number dwindled during the nineteenth century. During its co-existence with the Royal Dramatic Theatre until 1887 chorus members also frequently took minor spoken parts in drama and musical plays. Today the chorus numbers sixty members. The chorus masters are Christina Hörnell and Folke Alin. Leif Segerstam The Royal Swedish Opera Gustav III founded the Royal Swedish Opera in 1773. The first opera house on the current site was inaugurated in 1782. From the early nineteenth century until 1887, the Royal Theatre was the national theatre for opera and ballet as well as spoken drama and concerts.
