Kazakhstan’s Blueprint for road traffic development outlines six main transit corridors: 1. Tashkent - Shymkent - Taraz - Bishkek - Almaty - Khorgos; 2. Shymkent - Kyzylorda - Aktyubinsk - Uralsk - Samara; 3. Almaty - Karagandy - Astana - Petropavlovsk; 4. Astrakhan - Atyrau - Aktau - Turkmen frontier; 5. Omsk - Pavlodar - Semipalatinsk - Maikapshagai; 6. Astana - Kostanay - Chelyabinsk. GE.02- TRANS/SC.1/AC.5/2002/1 page 2 Accordingly, the following amendments and additions are proposed to annex I to the AGR and the draft map of the international road network: 1. E 40. After Kharkov extend as follows: … Lugansk - Volgograd - Astrakhan - Atyrau - Beineu - Kungrad - Nukus - Bukhara - Nawoy - Samarkand - Dzhizak - Tashkent - Shymkent - Taraz - Bishkek - Almaty - Sary-Ozek - Taldykorgan - Usharal - Taskesken - Ayaguz - Georgievka - Ust-Kamenogorsk - Leninogorsk - Ust-Kan. The Leninogorsk - Ust-Kan section should be indicated on the map. 2. E 38 should be extended to Shymkent. The Kyzylorda - Shymkent section should be assigned a dual number (E 123/E 38).

KNEZ SMITHSONIAN CONTRIBUTIONS TO ANTHROPOLOGY • NUMBER 39 SERIES PUBLICATIONS OF THE SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION Emphasis upon publication as a means of "diffusing knowledge" was expressed by the first Secretary of the Smithsonian. In his formal plan for the institution, Joseph Henry outlined a program that included the following statement: "It is proposed to publish a series of reports, giving an account of the new discoveries in science, and of the changes made from year to year in all branches of knowledge." Three Protestants were given jail terms in absentia. A further 6 individuals are serving restricted freedom sentences. A further 15 are under post-jailing bans on specific activity. A further 27 who completed sentences still have their bank accounts blocked. Forum18 (18.12.2019) - http://www.forum18.org/archive.php?article_id=2529 - As the criminal trial of Sunni Muslim Zhuldyzbek Taurbekov continues in Almaty, 24 individuals are known to be in jail for exercising their right to freedom of religion or belief. All of them are Sunni Muslim men. In addition, a further 6 individuals are known to be serving restricted freedom sentences for exercising their right to freedom of religion or belief. All but one of them are Sunni Muslim men.

Guzman Assistant Professor, College of Education, Isabela State University-Echague, Isabela, Philippines Received: 04.03.2020 Revised: 05.04.2020 Accepted: 06.05.2020 Abstract The Itawes of Isabela have a unique culture which defines them as a people. Their marriage manifests their cosmology. This study was conducted to document the different wedding rituals of the Itawes and analyze their cultural significance. Data were gathered through observation, community immersion and non-formal interview among the elders. These were interpreted and presented to the elders for validation, after which, a revision was made to include their feedback. The study revealed that the Itawes have several marriage rituals and stages like tubad, mangatatawa, gumina or landay, entrega, boda (wedding ceremony), gala-gala, and dallut. However, tubad and mangatatawa are no longer practiced due to some practical reasons. The study further revealed that these wedding rituals manifest the communal characteristics of the Itawes as a group of people. All members of the community are encouraged to participate in the conduct of the rituals. Further, it was also found out that female Itawes are given high regard specially in preparing them for married life. The parents of the female ensures that their daughter will be given a better life after the wedding by their soon to be husband. It is the reason why the parents are testing the determination of their suitors through the conduct of mangatatawa and other related rituals.
