Walker, PhD, J.A. Pilkington, BSc, A.N. Winterbottom, H. Hiller, BSc and G.E. Perry, MBE The Table is a chronological list of the 2869 launches of satellites and space vehicles between 1957 and the end of 1986, giving the name and international designation of each satellite and its associated rocket(s), with the date of launch, lifetime (actual or estimated), mass, shape, dimensions and at least one set of orbital parameters. Other fragments associated with a launch, and space vehicles that escape from the Earth's influence, are given without details. Including fragments, more than 17000 satellites appear in the 893 pages of the tabulation, and there is a full Index. Lee 2009 ABSTRACT Many educators understand that lectures are cost effective but not learning efficient, so continue to search for ways to increase active student participation in this traditionally passive learning environment. In-class polling systems, or “clickers”, are inexpensive and reliable tools allowing students to actively participate in lectures by answering multiple-choice questions. Students assess their learning in real time by observing instant polling summaries displayed in front of them. This in turn motivates additional discussions which increase the opportunity for active learning. We wanted to develop a comprehensive clicker methodology that creates an active lecture environment for a broad spectrum of students taking introductory physics courses. We wanted our methodology to incorporate many findings of contemporary learning science. It is recognized that learning requires active construction; students need to be actively involved in their own learning process. Learning also depends on preexisting knowledge; students construct new knowledge and understandings based on what they already know and believe. Learning is context dependent; students who have learned to apply a concept in one context may not be able to recognize and apply the same concept in a different context, even when both contexts are considered to be isomorphic by experts. -

SSC21- IV-07 Small Launchers in a Pandemic World - 2021 Edition of the Annual Industry Survey Carlos Niederstrasser Northrop Grumman Corporation 45101 Warp Drive, Dulles, VA 20166 USA; +1.703.406.5504 [email protected] ABSTRACT Even with the challenges posed by the world-wide COVID pandemic, small vehicle "Launch Fever" has not abated. In 2015 we first presented this survey at the AIAA/USU Conference on Small Satellites1, and we identified twenty small launch vehicles under development. By mid-2021 ten vehicles in this class were operational, 48 were identified under development, and a staggering 43 more were potential new entrants. Some are spurred by renewed government investment in space, such as what we see in the U.K. Others are new commercial entries from unexpected markets such as China. All are inspired by the success of SpaceX and the desire to capitalize on the perceived demand caused by the mega constellations. In this paper we present an overview of the small launch vehicles under development today. When available, we compare their capabilities, stated mission goals, cost and funding sources, and their publicized testing progress. We also review the growing number of entrants that have dropped out since we first started this report. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, one system became operational in the past 12 months and two or three more systems hope to achieve their first successful launch in 2021. There is evidence that this could be the year when the small launch market finally becomes saturated; however, expectations continue to be high and many new entrants hope that there is room for more providers. -

No specialist knowledge is required to do well in this exercise; all the information you need to provide a full answer are in these documents. You should not make any assumptions about the politics or policies of the Government of the day or of the Minister in the scenario - other than those described. Note: this exercise is entirely fictitious, is not intended to represent the real views of any government or other entity. It is designed solely to provide material with which to familiarise and practice analysis-type exercises. Timing You have 70 minutes to complete all tasks in this exercise. To ensure this practise is realistically challenging, you should ensure that you strictly adhere to these timings. You should aim to start writing after 25 minutes, or you are unlikely to have time to complete both tasks. You should spend most of this time on task 1, allowing no more than 10 minutes in total for task 2. -
