The nominations for candidates concluded on April 13th. In total, 1,075 candidates were nominated for the positions of 111 mayors and 572 councillors, and 305 candidates offered for 245 School Board Trustee and Community Board member positions. All who offered as candidates in this election are to be commended for their interest, dedication and commitment to their communities. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all successful candidates, and to thank the election administration staff, enumerators and poll workers throughout the province for the conduct of an excellent and fair election process. New polling division maps were successfully digitized on computer and provided for the use of municipal and school board elections with the assistance of staff and Deputy Municipal Electoral Officers. La date limite des déclarations de candidature était le 13 avril. Au total, 1 075 personnes ont posé leur candidature pour pourvoir aux 111 postes de maire et 572 postes de conseiller, et 305 personnes se sont portées candidates aux 245 postes de conseiller scolaire et de membre des Comités scolaire. Je tiens à féliciter tous les candidats et candidates à cette élection de l’intérêt, de leur dévouement et de leur engagement dans leur localité. Je félicite aussi tous les candidats et candidates élus et je remercie le personnel électoral, les recenseurs et le personnel des bureaux de scrutin de la province pour la mise sur pied d’un processus électoral juste et excellent. Les nouvelles cartes des sections de vote ont été numérisées. Elles ont été utilisées pour les élections scolaires et municipales, avec l’aide du personnel électoral et des sous-directeurs des élections municipales. Mr. Shawn Graham is the Leader of the Official Opposition in the New Brunswick Legislature. In this proceeding Mr. Graham is acting as agent for Mr. Stuart Jamieson, the MLA for Saint John Fundy. Mr. Graham filed two complaints with Mr. Richard. The first complaint was brought against the Honourable Brenda Fowlie, the Minister of the Environment and Local Government. The complaint alleges that on Tuesday, April 26, 2005, both inside and outside of the Legislative Chamber, Minister Fowlie disclosed private and confidential information concerning Mr. Jamieson, contrary to the provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act. The second and later complaint that Mr. Graham requested I include in my review is made against the Honourable Bernard Lord, the Premier of the province of New Brunswick. The complainant alleges that by repeating statements previously made by Minister Fowlie, Premier Lord too violated the provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act. More specifically, in his letters of complaint to the Ombudsman, Mr. Graham contends that Minister Fowlie has violated the various provisions of the Act, including but not limited to Principles 5, 6 and 7 of the Statutory Code of Practice which accompanies the Protection of Personal Information Act as schedule “A”, as well as Principle 4(1) of Schedule “B” to the Code.

Le présent inventaire reflète ces modifications. Faisant suite à l'acquisition du journal Le Madawaska en janvier 2003, les nouveaux propriétaires décident de modifier la journée de parution du journal, passant du mercredi au mardi à compter du 20 avril 2004. De plus, un nouveau journal est créé, soit La République, qui paraît le vendredi à compter du 23 avril 2004. Quelques mois plus tard, la parution de Le Madawaska revient le mercredi à compter du 13 octobre et La République paraît alors le samedi, à compter du 16 octobre. Ce dernier est livré à domicile et est gratuit. Pour les fins de l'indexation, nous avons intégré le journal La République à Le Madawaska, tout en respectant l'ordre chronologique de parution. 3 Introduction L'inventaire du journal Le Madawaska et La République est une initiative du service de la référence de la Bibliothèque Rhéa-Larose de l'Université de Moncton, campus d'Edmundston. Le service de la référence veut ainsi reconnaître l'influence considérable qu'a connu et que continue de connaître ce journal dans le développement et l'évolution de la pensée sociale au Madawaska.
