Subsequent responsibilities included, launch preparations for Asian Lion Fund, 18 month secondment into Philippine investee Lafayette Mining Ltd and Lion representation on the JV committee for the Cracow Gold Mine. GoldFern Consulting Pty Ltd Dec 2015 March 2003 – May 2004: Director, GoldFern Consulting Pty Ltd, Victoria, Australia Peter founded GoldFern to focus primarily on mining engineering and contractual support for mining operations. Clients included AngloGold, NorthParkes Mines, Gallery Gold, Dominion Gold, Lion Selection and MineConsult. 1999 – March 2003: Consulting Mining Engineer, MineConsult Pty Ltd, Victoria Peter joined MineConsult to commission and head up the new office in Melbourne, focussing on metalliferous mining. Clients included Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, Northparkes Mines and Union Reefs Gold Mine. In addition, a feasibility study due diligence review for the Boddington-Wandoo gold development in WA was completed. During the first half of 2001 Peter was Project Manager for a highly successful trial coal mining operation in South Australia. 1996 - 1999: Mine Superintendent, Union Reefs Gold Mine, NT, Australia With responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of a low grade, hard-rock open-pit producing 3.0 Mtpa of ore using a Mining Contractor, Peter supervised the expansion and technical optimisation of a difficult mine into a reliable gold producer. Fostering of relationships with local Indigenous groups and promotion of their employment opportunities were substantially advanced under Peter’s direction. Extended periods as Acting Mine Manager (responsible for all site functions) were successfully completed. 1995 - 1996: Mine Superintendent, Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, Western Australia After returning to Australia from the secondment in South America he joined Acacia as Senior Mining Engineer on the Sunrise Dam gold project feasibility study, where responsibility was held for the mining, environmental, and hydrological aspects. As Mine Superintendent, the tendering, negotiation and startup of the open pit mining contract was successfully completed including the landmark equity participation of an Indigenous group (Carey Mining). 1992 - 1994: Mine Engineering Superintendent, Cerro Matoso SA, Colombia With responsibility for Mine Planning, Geology, Exploration and Mine Engineering functions at this world class laterite nickel operation, he was a key player in two years of major technical and operational change. Key achievements were upgrading of mine planning and survey capabilities, remodelling of the ore reserves, plus justification and implementation of an open pit fleet replacement program. Acting Mine Manager assignments were successfully completed and communications were mainly conducted in Spanish. 1988 – 1992: Senior Mining Engineer, Billiton Australia, Melbourne Australia Varied assignments focussing on technical and economic evaluation for feasibility, acquisition, and disposal of metals assets were carried out and technical support was provided to the three Australian operating mines in the group.
