(040) 853 88 888 ∙ www.fkpscorpio.com PRESSEMITTEILUNG 05.02.2018 Dead Cross im Juni auf Tour Die Spieldauer des selbstbetitelten Debütalbums von Dead Cross beträgt gerade einmal 28 Minuten. Es mag ein Zufall sein, dass es damit ziemlich genau der von „Reign In Blood“ entspricht, mit dem bekanntlich eine Ära begann. Vielleicht auch nicht, denn immerhin steht mit Schlagzeuger Dave Lombardo ein damaliges Slayer-Mitglied im Line-up von Dead Cross. Zusammen mit seinem Fantômas-Kollegen und Faith No More-Sänger Mike Patton, dem Retox- Gitarristen Mike Crain und Retox-Gründer und The Locust-Bassisten Justin Pearson bildet er eine Supergroup des erweiterten Metal-, Hardcore- und Punk-Spektrums, die gleich mit ihrer ersten Platte ähnlich revolutionär daherkommt. Wer das Schaffen der einzelnen Mitglieder verfolgt hat, ahnt dunkel, was einen hier erwartet. Schon Patton allein hat – neben den Meriten für die genannten Bands – vor allem mit abseitigeren Projekten wie Tomahawk oder Mr. Bungle den Sound erheblich erweitert und zusammen mit John Zorn mit Naked City Jazz und Metal verschmolzen, als seien es von Anbeginn der Zeiten an dunkle Brüder. Auch die anderen haben in ihrem Leben schon so viel schwarzen, unglaublich tighten und schnellen Tumult erzeugt und mit dissonantem Krach die Konzertsäle weltweit ins Chaos gestürzt: Das muss einfach groß sein, wenn dieses Quartett mit seinem konzentrierten Sound und der vielfältig beeinflussten Musik auf die Bühne kommt. Oder um es mit Lombardo zu sagen: „Patton’s vocal range and intensity are on full blast throughout this entire album. Each song is a two-minute example of what it’s like to travel through the depths of his brain while JP, Crain and myself commandeer the vehicle. It’s jarring, aggressive and unsettling.
