Kevin Bienemann Dear Fellow Students, President

Louis Morandi A few months ago I wrote to you regarding the activity fee. It was pro Vice President posed by the Executive Board of Student Government to raise the current fee of $35 to $45 beginning in the January 1994 semester. This proposal, as I Margaret Browne previously stated, had been rejectedb y administration. Treasurer

Elena Napolilano I am happy to say, that after meeting with Father Harrington and present Secretary ing our proposal, along with a detailed explanation of the true need for this increase, it has been approved. This increase will take effect in January 1994 and will allow Student Government and other student organizations to pro vide you with the services and events which make St. John's great. I thank all of you who supported us in this endeavor and look forward to convincing those of you who did not, that it really is a necessity.

Another issue which has been the topic of much discussion across campus is the changing of the name REDMEN. Student Government has not been a part of the decision to change the name REDMEN. It was a decision made by Father Harrington. His decision was made in the best interest of Saint John's University's image. It is not and has not been the job of Student Government to make decisions regarding University policy and or public image. This decision has been made and is not going to be changed. I hope that we can look beyond the actual change and come together to pick a new name which we can all be proud of.

Sincerely,

Kevin Bienemann President 1993-1994 DECEMBER 8.1993 THElbRCHl.i Expandinifon Ex
