Team Peugeot-Hansen Glänste I Hell 2014-06-16 11:14 CEST Team Peugeot-Hansen glänste i Hell Team Peugeot-Hansen var bästa team i helgens tredje deltävling i FIA World Rallycross Championship i Hell i Norge. De tog med sig hela 39 mästerskapspoäng, vilket var mer än något annat team. I svåra förhållanden tog sig båda förarna Timur Timerzyanov (RUS) och Timmy Hansen (SWE) till final för första gången i år och bevisade återigen att farten finns i nya Peugeot 208 WRX. Peugeot-förarna tog två av de sex finalplatserna och stod sida vid sida i andra startled. Semifinalerna i Hell kördes i regn och mer regn hängde i luften inför finalen vilket gjorde att teamet valde regndäck. Dessvärre ändrades vädret snabbt och på en upptorkande bana tappade Timerzyanov alltmer fäste. Den ryske stjärnan låg tvåa tills han på fjärde varvet tog jokerspåret och föll till fjärde. Timmy Hansen gjorde en fantastisk start och dök in på jokern redan på första varvet. Henning Solberg gav honom en tryckare och Timmy gled ut. I smällen gick Hansens styrservo sönder och därmed var hans chanser till seger borta. Timmy slutade sexa, men i heat fyra tidigare under dagen satte unge Hansen tävlingens bästa varvtid. Timur Timerzyanov: “Vi har kapacitet att kliva överst på prispallen" Regerande Europamästaren i rallycross, Timur Timerzyanov, avancerade till femte plats i Rallycross-VM med sin fjärde plats i Hell. Den ryske föraren vann sitt fjärde heat efter en tät duell med teamkompisen Timmy Hansen. Timerzyanov är nöjd med sin Red Bull Peugeot WRX och tror att en seger kan stå för dörren inom en snar framtid. - Den här helgen har gått mycket bättre för oss och det var skönt att både jag och Timmy tog oss till final, säger Timerzyanov och fortsätter. - Vi gissade på att finalen skulle köras i regn så valet med regndäck kändes bra just då, men tyvärr blev banan torrare fortare än vi kunde ana och regndäcken överhettade och tappade grepp. Vår taktik var att kunna plocka placeringar när de andra kämpade i halkan, men det blev tvärtom. Ibland måste man våga för att vinna och idag gick inte chansningen hem. Vi såg i helgen återigen att våra bilar har vinnarfart och att det bara är att fortsätta att jobba hårt och hoppas på att det lossnar. Vi kan vinna snart, det är jag säker på. Timmy Hansen: “Totalt sett har tävlingshelgen varit fantastisk för teamet." Det erfarna teamet gjorde en del betydande ändringar i inställningar på Timmy Hansens 208 WRX på lördag kväll, vilket förändrade bilen och gjorde så att Hansen i fjärde heatet slog till med tävlingens snabbaste tid. Trots en kanonstart fick den unge svensken mycket stryk i första sväng och skadorna på bilen satte käppar i hjulen för en bra placering. Men han tog sig till mål och därmed plockade han också hem värdefulla mästerskapspoäng till teamet. - Jag fick en riktig stjärnsmäll av Henning Solberg i första sväng så att min styrservo gick sönder, berättar Timmy. Jag tog i allt jag orkade för att lyckas hålla bilen på banan i finalen. Jag kämpade på ända till mål för man vet aldrig om någon får problem och bryter. - Totalt sett har tävlingen varit fantastisk för teamet genom att lyckas ha både mig och Timur i finalen. Vi tog ett stort steg framåt med bilarna till söndagen och jag kunde göra riktigt bra tider hela dagen. Bilen har stor potential och vi hade en problemfri dag tekniskt sett. Kenneth Hansen: “Det hårda jobbet har betalat sig." Med erfarenheten från sina 14 EM-titlar i Rallycross, guidade Kenneth Hansen sitt team till det bästa resultatet hittills på säsongen. - Jag tror att i alla i teamet känner att vi har börjat förstå bilarna bättre och därmed hittat mer fart, säger en glad teamchef. - Vårt hårda och slitsamma arbete den senaste tiden har gett utdelning. Tyvärr fick våra förare en nackdel i finalen när vi valde regndäck. Timur har alltid kört bra här och gjorde det även i finalen under de förutsättningar han fick. - Timmy fick en smäll och bilen gick sönder redan i början av loppet. Det här är rallycross och ibland händer det saker utför ens makt. Jag tycker att helgen har varit en framgång för oss. Med förra racet i åtanke var den här tävlingen som en seger för oss. Att åka hem som det team som har tagit med mästerskapspoäng är riktigt roligt! In the overall standings, the Swede still holds second behind compatriot Johan Kristoffersson. In the teams’ classification EKS is third at the half-way stage of the season. Ekström made a flying start around the rollercoaster track in Norway. Despite torrential rain, the Swede coped the best with the slippery track at the wheel of his Audi S1 EKS RX quattro, and led the overall classification after the first day. “I was a little surprised that we were so fast in the wet, but that was quattro weather,” joked Ekström after the final. “In the dry conditions on Sunday, we struggled again to match the pace of the competition. In the final we lost crucial ground right at the start. This was our own mistake and this ultimately cost us the podium finish.” Although Ekström leaves Norway without a trophy, he still scored 23 important points for the overall standings. After six of twelve rounds, the World Champion is eight points behind the leading VW driver Johan Kristoffersson.

At the ninth round in Lohéac, the reigning World Champion finished third – the first podium result since his victory in Hockenheim last May. In front of 75,000 spectators, the Swede was only beaten in the final by his countryman Johan Kristoffersson and the French local matador Sébastien Loeb. In the overall standings, Ekström is third behind Kristoffersson and his team mate Petter Solberg – also like EKS in the team classification. Following heavy rain, the final race in Brittany became a mud festival featuring many overtaking moves. “Saturday sun and Sunday rather more swimming and sliding, a varied weekend,” confirmed Ekström. “I’m actually quite satisfied with my third place, but I’m a little annoyed because we weren’t so far from the front. Transition theory emphasizes that development of sustainable technologies such as EVs can be achieved within niches, which are protective spaces that shield sustainable technologies from mainstream market selection pressures. An interesting environment that has generally been known for innovative developments with regard to mobility has recently seen an increased usage of EVs. This environment is the motorsport. This paper therefore aims to identify the role that the electric motorsport as niche plays in the development of EVs for a transition towards a more sustainable mobility system. In order to fulfil this aim, a qualitative research approach was used where both semi-structured interviews and grey literature was analysed. The electrification of certain categories of the FIA World Rallycross Championship as well as the Extreme E were selected to exemplify the entire electric motorsport. The protective space conceptualisation of Smith and Raven (2012) that focuses on shielding, nurturing and empowering processes was used to conduct the analysis and describe the electric motorsport as a niche. The analysis showed that the electric motorsport as niche shows great capabilities of making contributions towards the development of EVs, but currently is not utilised to this potential.

Which is why he was so pleased to land a first victory since World RX of Great Britain at Lydden Hill in May. We’ve run a lot of different set-ups on the car – we had to really work at it to catch Peugeot. All the time, the 208 was taking tenths of seconds, but eventually the brilliant PSRX engineers worked it out. “My son won a crosskart race in Sweden today; I got the message by telephone and he was joking and being quite confident and cocky in telling me I couldn’t let the family down – I actually really felt the pressure from that! “In the end, I could call him back and be quite cocky back with him. I liked that! “Everything was going quite well from the start, but in the third heat, I touched the wall on the left side – there was loads of dust in the car and I really couldn’t see so well.

The event in the Swedish province of Värmland is both the home round for EKS and a big motorsport party. The organizers expect some 45,000 spectators to turn out for the “Magic Weekend” from June 30 to July 2. One of the protagonists, though, will be missing: Mattias Ekström. The Swedish Audi factory driver passes up his home round in favor of the DTM round at the Norisring. His compatriot P-G Andersson will stand in for him. “In Höljes, I won in 2014 and 2015. It goes without saying that I’d have liked to clinch my third big trophy there,” says the reigning Rallycross World Champion. “But the DTM has priority and, regrettably, I can’t split myself in half. Fortunately, my boss, Dieter Gass, made the decision for me.” His Swedish compatriot P-G Andersson will take Ekström’s place in Höljes. The 2004 and 2007 Junior Rally World Champion is no stranger to the World RX. In 2014, he debuted in the 560-hp Audi S1 EKS RX quattro at the World RX round in Turkey. In the 2015 season, the now 37-year- old Andersson contested ten rounds in a VW Polo for Marklund Motorsport, scoring a fourth place in Belgium as his best result.
