I CAN go to a Hockey Game! ROGERS ARENA This is Rogers Arena. I will be going to Rogers Arena to watch a hockey game! LINE UP When I arrive outside of Rogers Arena, I will look at my ticket to find my gate number. Then, I will line up outside of my gate and wait in line to enter the building. I will stay with my parents or with my friends at all times. There might be other people waiting in line and it might get a little loud, but that is okay! SHOW TICKET When it is my turn in line, I will show my ticket to the Rogers Arena staff. The Rogers Arena staff will scan my ticket. Next, I will go through security. SECURITY At security, it is very important that I listen to the security staff. First, I will place my bag, phone and metal objects on the table. Then, I will walk through the metal detectors with my hands by my side. If the metal detectors beep, a security staff might ask to check to do some more searching. WHEN I AM AT ROGERS ARENA, I NEED TO FOLLOW THESE RULES: FIND SEATING Now I can go find my seat! I can find where my section is and where my seat is on my ticket. I will find my section first, then my seat. If I need help finding my seat, I can ask the Rogers Arena staff. CONCOURSE This is the concourse. I will walk through the concourse to find my seat. There will be lots of other people walking through the concourse to find their seats too. It can get crowded and it can get loud, but that is okay! If I have any questions or need help, I should ask one of the Rogers Arena staff or go to Guest Services. SIT DOWN When I find my seat, I will sit down. This is what the inside of Rogers Arena looks like. There are lots of people here to watch the Vancouver Canucks play! SING O CANADA! Before the hockey game starts, the players will warm up. The announcer will say when it is time to sing the national anthem. I will then stand up with everyone, take my hat off and sing. The lights and colours in the arena might change, but that is okay! WATCH THE GAME When the hockey game begins, I can cheer for the Vancouver Canucks! I can say “GO CANUCKS GO” or “LET’S GO CANUCKS!” It is important to be positive! When I am not cheering for the Canucks, I need to use my indoor voice and be quiet. Other people will appreciate it when I use my indoor voice so they can focus on watching the hockey game. GOAL! When the team scores a goal, a loud horn will sound and the crowd will start to cheer loudly! If it gets too loud, I can cover my ears or put my headphones on. CHEER! If the Canucks score a goal, I can cheer very loudly! But, if the opposing team scores a goal, I should not cheer for that team. I can say, “Nice try, Canucks!” or “We’ll get them next time!” It is important to stay positive. INTERMISSION There will be two intermissions, or breaks, during the game. A horn will go off to let the players and the fans know when it is time for an intermission. This is a good time for me to go to the washroom and/or buy food from one of the concession stands if I am hungry. There may be long line ups and I will need to be patient. WATCH INTERMISSION ACTIVITIES During the two intermissions, there will be different activities on the ice. FIN the mascot might come onto the ice and play some games with the crowd. He is very friendly! WATCH THE GAME When each intermission is finished, the two teams will switch sides and will continue to play! I will continue cheering for the Vancouver Canucks and stay in my seat. EXIT ROGERS ARENA When the game is finished, I will leave the arena with the person that I came with, and we will stay close together. The Concourse will be very busy and very crowded, but that is okay! I can choose to wait and stay in my seat until there is a smaller crowd in the concourse. HOME TIME Now it is time to go home! If I want to watch another hockey game, I can buy a ticket or watch them on TV!.
