  • Swinging Blue Jeans
1 Chairman’s voice of appreciation Here we go again! As the years go by we are getting bigger and better without losing the friendly family atmosphere. Over the years we have raised thousands of pounds for various charities. This year we are concentrating on helping local homes that look after patients suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease and other types of dementia. We will also be donating additional money to Manton Village Hall to help towards the re-furbishment. It is our intention to concentrate on local charities where the money raised can make a difference to the local community. This year we are welcoming back the first professional act to perform at MantonFest, The Swinging Blue Jeans. They give me a chance to wander down memory lane and back to my wild youth! We are so fortunate to have Fred and Emma Goltz living in Manton Grange. They not only allow us use of the water meadow but, once again, are our main sponsor thus allowing us to develop this music festival, giving everyone a fantastic day out! Our dedicated volunteers and supporters have come up trumps again. The committee MantonFest Chairman - Roger Grant - Stuart Whant, Anne Morgan, Linda Yeardley and Becky Banning with the help of Denise Grant have made sure that all is running smoothly. Without them I could not organise this event. I would also like to give a big thanks to marlborough.news for all their support particularly Neil Goodwin who has put this programme together and Marina Rae who has tirelessly encouraged the advertisers to present their advertisements to you in this programme.

  • Status Quo – En Studie Av Ett Rockbands Karriär
“Together We Can Rock´n´Roll” Status Quo – en studie av ett rockbands karriär Eva Kjellander Pedagogiska institutionen/ Avd. för bild, musik och kulturpedagogik Växjö universitet Handledare: Boel Lindberg D-uppsats i Musikvetenskap Ht 2005 2 Abstract Eva Kjellander: “Together we can rock´n´roll”, Status Quo – a study of the career of a rock band. Växjö: Musicology 2005. 80p. The main purpose of this essay is on one hand to try to find and explain the formula of success of the rock group Status Quo, and on the other to elucidate and explain the foundation and essence in the music made by Status Quo, but also to study how, if and why the foundation and essence have changed over the years. The method of investigation is partly based on a musical analysis of three albums from three different periods: Hello! (1973), Ain´t Complaining (1988) and Heavy Traffic (2002), and partly on a sociological study of the group’s career between 1962 and today, 2005. The first part of the essay concerns the period between 1962-1973 with an analysis of the album Hello!; the second part concerns the period 1974-1988 and the album Ain´t Complaining; finally, the third part concerns the years between 1989-2002 with an intensified analysis of the album Heavy Traffic. In the forth part of the essay I discuss the career of Status Quo from a sociological point of view. I run to the conclusion that the essence of Status Quo is the boogie-woogie comp on Fender guitar by Rick Parfitt, the riff on Francis Rossis´ Fender guitar in combination with the base, the piano and the drums.

  • Besetzung Mit Drummer John Coghlan Und Bassist Alan Lancaster
In dieser Phase entstanden Alben wie „Piledriver“, „Quo“, „Hello“, „On The Level“, „Blue For You“, „Rockin´All Over The World“ und „Whatever You Want“, die viele, damals noch ungebügelte und raue Allzeit-Klassiker und Hits der Band enthielten.

Est November 1991 New Year’s Issue 2017 The Circulation 1,950 TheGazette newspaper of Gamlingay, East Hatley and Hatley St. George Local Villagers Contribute to World Prematurity Day! Hannah Yeldham was asked in April by her manager at work at the Rosie Hospital Neonatal Unit in Cambridge, if she knew anyone who knew anything about ‘lighting a building purple’ to promote World Prematurity Day 2016 (WPD). Hannah contacted Simon Fisher, having seen his contribution to Night of Heritage Light (www.nohl-sll.org) After a couple of emails a ‘WPD 2016 working party’ was formed, which consisted of Hannah, Simon and 2 colleagues at the Rosie Hospital. A few months on and the initial idea had grown and developed and we welcomed on board more ‘lighting people’ and communication teams from work. World Prematurity Day was 17th November 2016 and from an initial meeting we now have a photographic exhibition that Hannah masterminded, an invitation only reception, purple floodlighting of the WRVS atria at The Rosie Hospital, buildings lit purple around the County, several organisations in Cambridge on board, cakes and representatives from Bliss Charity attending the event. Social media and the local press are interested in raised awareness, which was fantastic! The event featured on Look East on the night of 17th November. ‘We even had a Paralympic 2016 gold medallist attending on the night’ says Hannah. ‘It was such a pleasure to give some time, effort and energy to the project’ says Simon Fisher. ‘I offer my thanks to the leadership team at Gamlingay Village College and the Friends of St Marys Church in Gamlingay for letting me light their buildings and help raise awareness of this really important issue.’ ‘In addition to the sites in Gamlingay, the Cambridge Corn Exchange and Cambridge based lighting manufacturer, Pulsar Lighting, will be purple for the night.
