‘A PRINCESS FOR CHRISTMAS’ CAST BIOS SIR ROGER MOORE (Edward) – Born in Clapham, London in 1927, the son of a London policeman, Sir Roger Moore attended Hackford Road Elementary School and then Battersea Grammar School. Evacuated to Worthing at the outbreak of World War II, he returned to London in 1943. After leaving school, Moore worked as a tracer/filler/office boy with the animation company Publicity Picture Productions. He was fired after a short time, and in 1944 he was accepted by the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and attended for three terms. He then joined the Cambridge Arts Theatre Repertory Company. In 1945, Moore was called up for National Service and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and then promoted to Captain in the Combined Services Entertainment. At the end of his Army service he worked as an assistant stage manager at the BBC Studios at Alexander Palace and supplemented his salary by working as an advertising model. Then came a small part in the West End stage production of Mister Roberts and an understudy role alongside David Tomlinson in The Little Hut. His American debut followed, and he appeared in A Pin to See the Peepshow on Broadway. It was then that Hollywood beckoned with an MGM contract. In 1957, he played the title role in "Ivanhoe," returning to England for a total of 39 episodes. When Moore returned to Hollywood in 1958 he was put under contract by Warner Bros. and starred in the TV series "The Alaskans” and "Maverick.” In 1962, Moore got his big break when he was cast as "The Saint,” the most successful TV series at that time. Moore went on to star in "The Persuaders" television series with Tony Curtis in 1971. The pinnacle of Moore's career came in 1972 when he was cast in the title role of the massively successful “James Bond” movie franchise. He continued in this cinematic series for a total of seven productions, slotting in a dozen feature films where time allowed. Since 1991 when he was appointed a Special Ambassador to UNICEF, Moore, accompanied by his wife, has toured the world to speak at fundraising events. In 1999, he received the title Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF. He was awarded the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s New Year Honors. In 2003, Moore was awarded a Knighthood in the Queen’s Birthday Honors for his charity work. Recent years have seen Moore concentrating on his UNICEF work, but continuing to work in film, TV and stage when time allows. Most recently he has voiced a number of animated films, including “Here Comes Peter Cottontail,” “The Fly Who Loved Me,” “Agent Crush” and “Cats And Dogs II.” He has also appeared in London’s West End and on Broadway as special guest in The Play What I Wrote. He has three children from his former marriage, and four grandchildren. ### KATIE MCGRATH (Jules) – Dublin-born actress Katie McGrath is best known for her role as Morgana on BBC One’s series “Merlin.” Her other roles include appearances in “The Queen” and “The Tudors.” A graduate of Trinity College in Dublin, McGrath earned her degree in history. Wanting to pursue fashion journalism, she took a job at Image magazine before becoming a wardrobe assistant on the set of “The Tudors,” where she was convinced to try acting. The job led to a small role on an episode in season two. McGrath’s career led her to star as Princess Margaret in the five-part docudrama about Queen Elizabeth II, “The Queen,” for Channel 4. She also appeared in the feature films “Red Mist,” “Eden” and “Freakdog,” and the TV movie “Damage.” In 2008, McGrath had a role in the miniseries, “The Roaring Twenties.” ### TRAVIS TURNER (Milo) – Travis Turner transferred his love of watching movies to starring in them. With an acute talent for acting, Turner has landed parts in everything from theatre to short films to full-length motion pictures. Turner’s first break came when he landed a recurring role in “Caprica.” He also got a part in the feature “Confined,” alongside “Battlestar Galactica” star Michael Hogan. In 2010, Turner kept busy as he filmed the independent feature “Easter Bunny Blood Bath,” booked a commercial for Mattel Games and a role in Teletoon’s “Tower Prep.” He has also appeared on USA’s “Fairly Legal” and the CW series “Supernatural.” His biggest role was when he starred in “Marley and Me: The Puppy Years,” the sequel to the popular feature film “Marley and Me” starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson. Born in 1987 in British Columbia, Turner entertained loved ones so well he received his first nod when he was picked up by an agent in Vancouver. He took his love for performing from the living room to the stage by obtaining starring parts in Peter Pan, Lord of the Flies, A Midsummer’s Night Dream and Mousetown. For his powerful performance as J-Rat in the latter, he received an award for outstanding male performance in a supporting role at the Alberta One Act Festival. When not on the big screen, little screen or stage, Turner can be found creating music, entertaining friends and family or watching movies. ### LEILAH DE MEZA (Maddie) — Young actress Leilah de Meza has filmed lead roles in various commercials for Sainsburys, Mattel Toys and Vivid Toys as the Fifi Doll. She starred in the West End Musical Production of Gone With the Wind as Bonnie, directed by Sir Trevor Nunn. The Hallmark Channel Original Movie, “A Princess for Christmas” is de Meza’s first film. ### SAM HEUGHAN (Ashton) – A graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Sam Heughan was a 2003 nominee for the Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Performance for his work in the program. Heughan has performed on stage, screen and film. His most recent project has landed him a role on the BBC soap opera “Doctors,” as Scott Neilson. In 2010, Heughan was nominated for a British Soap Award for Villian of the Year for this role. He has also had roles on the TV series “River City,” “Island at War,” “The Wild West,” “Midsomer Murders,” “Party Animals,” “Rebus” and, most recently, “Any Human Heart” as Lieutenant McStay for Carnival Film and TV Ltd. His TV movie credits include “Breaking the Mould” for BBC Television and “A Very British Sex Scandal” for Channel 4. Heughan has also had time on the big screen, appearing in the short “Small Moments,” and the feature films “Alexander the Great from Macedonia” and “Emulsion.” On stage, Heughan has performed at a variety of theatres in productions of The Twits, Romeo and Juliet, The Vortex, Hamlet, Macbeth, The Pearl Fisher, A Plague Over England, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Amphibians. At the Royal Scottish Academy, Heughan starred in productions of Crime & Punishment, Romeo and Juliet, The Seagull, and Prometheus Bound. Heughan will soon begin rehearsal for a new production of Batman Live. ### MILES RICHARDSON (Paisley) – British actor Miles Richardson was born to two founding members of the Royal Shakespeare Company in London, where he worked as a child actor growing up. Richardson graduated from Arts Educational Drama College in 1982 and went on to work extensively in reparatory theater. His West End credits include Another Country, An Evening with Gary Lineker and The Invisible Man, among others. Richardson has also done several touring productions, including Almeida’s production of Lulu in the Far East and America, and in Anjin, a Japanese/British production in Tokyo and Osaka. Richardson also played Sherlock Holmes in a newly devised play, Sherlock Holmes and the case at Sir Arthur Sullivan's in the national tour, a role his father, popular British actor Ian Richardson, played for television. From 2003 to 2008, Richardson was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company alongside Dame Judi Dench, appearing in As You Like It, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and All’s Well That Ends Well, among others. Richardson has also been no stranger to the screen. He has acted alongside his father in Channel Four's adaptation of “Porterhouse Blue” in 1987, appeared in three episodes of “Midsomer Murders,” and had roles on several other British television series, including “'Allo 'Allo,” "Doctors," “Murder Room,” “Cambridge Spies,” “Highlander: The Raven,” “The Final Cut” and “Hope It Rains.” Most recently, Richardson played John Jacob Astor for the upcoming ITV series “Titanic.” Some of Richardson’s film work includes parts in “Another Life,” “Sabotage,” “Elizabeth,” “Maurice,” “The Return of Sherlock Holmes” and “Harry Potter.” Richardson has also provided his voice for over 100 films and video games as an ADR artist, including a voice part in the feature animated film, “Flushed Away,” in 2006.
