Great Awards for the Nominations Sent by Panathlon International to The
Great Awards for the nominations sent by Panathlon International to the International Fair Play Committee A shining Budapest on the day of its national celebration in recollection in that distant March 15, 1948, which marked the beginning of the insurrection that led to its first independent government and its first Constitution, welcomed the members of the Council of the Comité International pour le Fair Play for their first meeting of 2019. Among the decisions to be taken, the awarding of the World Fair Play awards. The nominations came from 19 countries world- wide, of these 12 were proposed by Panathlon International: France, Italy and Uruguay the Districts represented. With considerable satisfaction a good quality of nominations were taken into account/registered in all four award categories: Gesture, Career, Promotion and the Jacques Rogge Award dedicated to young people. The preliminary stage for nominations produced by the two Vice-Presidents respectively Mr. Nikolai Dolgopolov (RUS) and Mr. Maurizio Monego (I) has proven to be as always useful at introducing discussion issues. The resulting decisions were not easy due to the validity of the nominations/candidacies and the difficulty of comparing sport and circumstances widely differing from one another. Ultimately, we believe that the true spirit of Fair Play has emerged no matter what/regardless. This fact has led in assigning more than one award with the here below results: Categoria Pierre de Coubertin per il Gesto Awarded two Trophies and 3 Diplomas of Honour A Trophy was awarded to Norwegian Eiving Vold, canoe category athlete who sought doggedly the truth concerning his passing the marker and wasn’t sure of being fair. -

European Olympic Committee Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile “The Rules of the Ga m e ” Eu r o p e ’ s first conference on the Governance of Sport Br u s s e l s , 26 & 27 February 2001 Conference Report & Conclusions "The Rules of the Game" Conference Report & Conclusions Page 1. Foreword by Dr Jacques Rogge, 2 President of the International Olympic Committee 2. Introduction 3 3. Statement of Good Governance Principles 4 4. The Conference Programme 8 5. Key Speeches 9 6. List of Participants 28 7. The Governance in Sport Working Group 37 1 1. Foreword by Dr Jacques Rogge , President of the International Olympic Committee World sport is faced at the beginning of this new Millennium with a difficult challenge. It has to reconcile the traditional values of sports with growing commercial interests such as television and sponsorship. Sports organisations can be the victims of their own success, if they do not keep pace with the political, economic and legal environment in which they act. This question has been particularly relevant in Europe, where the autonomy of sports and the governing role of sports organisations have increasingly been challenged by various stakeholders, court decisions or legislation. Sporting rules and procedures are challenged before courts or international institutions and several rulings and decisions have shaken up the sporting community. Sports governing bodies are at the same time executive bodies, which are managing their sport, legislators in setting up "the rules of the game" but also judges whenever it comes to settling sporting disputes. These manifold dimensions of sports governance are quite unique if compared with other sectors.
