RESUMO Durante o Pliocénico, as oscilações eustáticas no domínio atlântico terão sido responsáveis por vários episódios transgressivos na costa portuguesa, dos quais o mais significativo ocorreu durante o Placenciano e afetou, sobretudo, a Bacia do Mondego e a região de entre a Nazaré e as Caldas da Rainha. O registo estratigráfico correspondente é essencialmente arenoso, iniciando-se localmente com fácies conglomeráticas ricas de conchas marinhas, propiciando um conjunto de jazidas, das quais as das imediações de Carnide, no concelho de Pombal, descobertas na década de 1950, são as mais ricas e diversificadas em associações de invertebrados marinhos e foraminíferos (e.g. Carnide de Cima, Igreja de Carnide, Vale da Bouchada, Vale da Cabra e Vale Farpado). Destas, a jazida de Vale de Freixo (Pombal), apresenta uma das sucessões locais mais representativas deste intervalo, tendo a sua fauna de moluscos gastrópodes sido estudada exaustivamente por SILVA (1993, 2001). A associação de foraminíferos das jazidas convizinhas foi estudada por CARVALHO & COLON (1954), MARTINS FERREIRA (1960) e CARDOSO (1984). Os moluscos bivalves foram listados por TEIXEIRA & ZBYSZEWSKY (1951) e ZBYSZEWSKI (1959), mas quer estes, quer os de Vale de Freixo, nunca mereceram uma atualização taxonómica exaustiva. O presente estudo, inserido num projeto mais vasto de inventariação dos moluscos bivalves do Pliocénico português, visa colmatar esta lacuna. Assim, relativamente aos estudos e trabalhos anteriores, o número de espécies de moluscos bivalves reportados para o Pliocénico de Carnide passou de 48 para mais de nove dezenas. Identificámos um total de 86 taxa de BIVALVIA, dos quais 81 a nível específico, distribuídos por 32 famílias e 75 géneros, tendo a sua sistemática sido atualizada de acordo com os trabalhos mais recentes. As famílias mais representadas são: Veneridae (11 espécies), Pectinidae e Tellinidae (oito espécies cada). Constam, desta lista taxonómica, 23 primeiras citações de ocorrência para o registo estratigráfico do Pliocénico de Portugal (Ennucula laevigata, Centrocardita aculeata, Goodallia triangularis, Spaniorinus ambiguus, Diplodonta rotundata, Hiatella rugosa, Phaxas pellucidus, Parvicardium scriptum, Gari tellinella, Bosemprella incarnata, Oudardia compressa, Megaxinus transversus, Loripinus fragilis, Cardilia michelottii, Corbula revoluta, Gouldia minima, Pitar rudis, Limaria loscombi, Gregariella sp., Neopycnodonte cochlear, Heteranomia squamula, Pododesmus squama, Hinnites ercolanianus) e outras 19 são novidade para a sucessão marinha pliocénica de Carnide (Cardita calyculata, Scacchia oblonga, Acanthocardia aculeata, Papillicardium papillosum, Gari depressa, Abra alba, Gastrana fragilis, Peronidia albicans, Chama gryphoides, Lutraria lutraria, Anadara diluvii, Anadara pectinata, Arca tetragona, Lima lima, Modiolus sp., Aequipecten opercularis, Flexopecten flexuosus, Hinnites crispus, Mimachlamys varia). Analisando a repartição vertical da sequência fossilífera de Vale de Freixo (estratos “2” a “4”), verificamos que o estrato 2, de fácies conglomerática, é rico em valvas de espécies bivalves de maior tamanho, as quais tendem a apresentar dimensões próximas entre si, abrasão, bioerosão e epizoários, sugerindo uma seleção por paleocorrentes associada a fraca taxa de deposição. Observa-se, ainda, a sua acumulação preferencial em determinadas áreas, o que poderá ter sido potenciado pelas configurações morfológicas dos fundos marinhos locais e por correntes de vortex. O estado de desarticulação das valvas é generalizado, encontrando-se dispostas preferencialmente com a comissura voltada para baixo, situação de estabilidade que ocorre geralmente sob certas condições de hidrodinamismo mais elevadas. Para o topo do estrato 3 e no estrato 4 as valvas encontram-se frequentemente articuladas, o que, i conjuntamente com a preservação de estruturas delicadas, indica níveis de hidrodinamismo fracos e taxas de deposição mais elevadas. A maior abundância relativa de bivalves endobentónicos suspensívoros, bem como a sua diversidade interespecífica, corrobora, para os estratos 3 e 4, a existência de fundos de substrato móvel, de granulometria fina e bem oxigenados. Bivalves como Spisula subtruncata, Circomphalus foliaceolamellosus, Macomopsis elliptica indicam que a batimetria não ultrapassaria o limite inferior do andar infralitoral. As espécies estenoalinas Lembulus pella e Papilicardium papillosum indicam ambiente francamente marinho. Os bivalves Cardita calyculata, Oudardia compressa, Circomphalus foliaceolamellosus, Tapes vetula, Procardium diluvianum, Europicardium multicostatum, Palliolum excisum ou Cardilia michelottii, que possuem forte afinidade tropical, sugerem paleotemperaturas das águas superficiais oceânicas acima das atuais registadas para a costa ocidental portuguesa. PALAVRAS CHAVE: Bivalvia, Pliocénico, Vale de Freixo (Pombal), Bacia do Mondego. ii ABSTRACT During the Pliocene, several eustatic sea-level changes have occurred on the Atlantic domain that caused recurrent transgression episodes on the Portuguese coast. The most significant of these was Piacenzian in age and flooded several areas of the Mondego Basin and Caldas da Rainha - Nazaré ranges. The correlative stratigraphic record is mostly dominated by siliciclastic sequences of micaceous, fine-grained sands, sometimes with a basal conglomerate bed where highly diverse marine coquina can be present. This allows the occurrence of several interesting fossil sites, of which those discovered in the 1950‟s around Carnide (Pombal) have been known as the richest in marine invertebrate and foraminifera fossil-associations. The foraminifera assemblage was described by CARVALHO & COLON (1954), MARTINS FERREIRA (1960) and CARDOSO (1984). From this setting stand out the Vale de Freixo fossil site, which has exposed one of the best local Pliocene sequences, with a diverse gastropod fauna extensively studied by SILVA (1993, 2001). Concerning the bivalve molluscs, the assemblages found in the nearby fossil sites of Carnide de Cima, Igreja de Carnide, Vale da Cabra, Vale da Bouchada and Vale Farpado were checked by TEIXEIRA & ZBYSZEWSKY (1951) and ZBYSZEWSKI (1959), but they lack a recent taxonomic actualization. Moreover, the correlative assemblage of Vale de Freixo has never been studied with an exhaustive taxonomic actualization. As part of a project of taxonomical review and palaeoecological study of the Pliocene bivalve faunas from Portugal mainland, the present study intends be a contribute to fill that gap. In addition to previous studies, the number of bivalve species reported for the outcrops of Carnide was increased from 48 to more than 90. We also have identified 86 bivalve taxa, including 81 at species level,

This paper shows that Bivalve assemblages could serve as excellent indicators of disturbance and ecosystem instability. The goal of this study was to compare two sets of data in order to determine the differences between two different periods belonging to Bivalve assemblage in the muddy detritic bottom of the northern Adriatic Sea in the post-anoxic period during December 1989, 1990, 1991 and quite a while later, during 2003, 2004 and 2005. Abundances of some indicator species such as Corbula gibba, Modiolarca subpicta, and Timoclea ovata were detected during the post-anoxic period. Recruitment in the quality of Bivalve assemblages was proved by the ecologic and biotic indexes during 2003, 2004 and 2005, during a period of relatively stable ecological conditions. Fluctuation in Bivalve diversity due to the ecological quality of the marine ecosystem in the eastern part of the northern Adriatic Sea is also discussed. A estrutura En primeiro lugar preséntase unha clasificación taxonómica que considera as clases, ordes, superfamilias e familias de moluscos. A seguir vén o corpo do documento, onde se indica, especie por especie, alén do nome científico, os nomes galegos e ingleses de cada molusco (nalgún caso, tamén, o nome xenérico para un grupo deles). Ao final inclúese unha listaxe de referencias bibliográficas que foron utilizadas para a elaboración do presente documento. Nalgunhas desas referencias recolléronse ou propuxéronse nomes galegos para os moluscos, quer xenéricos quer específicos. Outras referencias achegan nomes para os moluscos noutras linguas, que tamén foron tidos en conta. Alén diso, inclúense algunhas fontes básicas a respecto da metodoloxía e dos criterios terminolóxicos empregados. 2 Tratamento terminolóxico De modo moi resumido, traballouse nas seguintes liñas e cos seguintes criterios: En primeiro lugar, aprofundouse no acervo lingüístico galego. Most of the species in this family are misplaced into invalid subgenera and Indian arcids are wanted a revision in systematic positon. In the case of Arcidae family; all of the species are treated under Anadara as main genera, however, some authors considered that the Tegillarca genus is only a sub genus of Arcidae family. Anadara is the commercially important genus of bivalves of Arcidae family. These two genera are confused by many taxonomists and some considered that the morphometric changes of Tegillarca are only the habitual adaptation. But the collected samples from the same habitat from the southern part of India is clearly demarked the distinction between Anadara species and Tegillarca species. In this paper the differences between these two genera are illustrated with the help of specimens from the same habitat and with the help of taxonomic literature of these genera. Species level classification was done based on the morphometric characters like peculiarities of (i) periostracum, (ii) cardinal area, (iii) umbo, (iv) adductor muscle scar and (v) pallial line. The specimens were collected from Neendakara, Vizhinjam and Kovalam along with the south west coast and Thiruchendur in Tamil Nadu, south east coast of India.

La ricerca e la raccolta del materiale è stata ef- fettuata sulla riva destra dell'Arda nei pressi di Lugagnano, e Piir propriamente nei vasti ammassi di argille azzure che si stendono dall'Arda verso il paese di Vernasca (Foglio I.G.M. n. 72 II N.E.). In particolare le due zone di raccolta, oggetto di questo studio, sono topograficamente racchiuse tm quota 208 (Case Micelli presso la riva destra dell'Arda) e quota 300 circa. Si tratta di un grande ammasso di argille azzurre, situato ad Est ed a Sud-Est della fornace per late- rizi di Lugagnano. Topograficamente sovrapposte a queste argille si trovano sabbie basali del Pliocene inferiore variate con intercalazioni marmose, sab- bie medie e grossolane, marne grigio chiare, sabbie argillo§e, argille marmoso-sabbiose. Da esse non sono stati prelevati che scarsi fram_ menti di molluschi e pertanto queste non fanno oggetto di questo Iavoro. Queste sabbie sooo stratigraficamente sottoposte alle argille prese qui in esame, mentre dal punto di vista topografico esse si e' stcndono fin quasi al paese di Veanasca.

Based on literature records and original samples, we review here the knowledge of the Lebanese marine bivalve biota, tracing its changes during the last 170 yr. The updated checklist of bivalves of Lebanon yielded a total of 114 species (96 native and 18 alien taxa), accounting for ca. 26.5% of the known Mediterranean Bivalvia and thus representing a particularly poor fauna. Analysis of the 21 taxa historically described on Lebanese material only yielded 2 available names. Records of 24 species are new for the Lebanese fauna, and Lioberus ligneus is also a new record for the Mediterranean Sea. Comparisons between molluscan records by past (before 1950) and modern (after 1950) authors revealed temporal variations and qualitative modifications of the Lebanese bivalve fauna, mostly affected by the introduction of Erythraean species. The rate of recording of new alien species (evaluated in decades) revealed later first local arrivals (after 1900) than those observed for other eastern Mediterranean shores, while the peak in records in conjunc- tion with our samplings (1991 to 2010) emphasizes the need for increased field work to monitor their arrival and establishment.

El intermareal rocoso de Veracruz, México, es un ecosistema que resguarda una gran biodiversidad. Sin embargo, no se ha reconocido su relevancia como con otros ecosistemas marinos. El objetivo de este estudio fue elaborar las primeras listas florística y faunística del intermareal rocoso de El Pulpo, localizada en el municipio de Cazones, Veracruz. Para ello, desde el 2013 a 2016 se efectuaron muestreos en la franja intermareal rocosa en periodos de marea baja para el registro de la biota marina y la recolecta de material biológico para su identificación taxonómica. Además, se realizó una revisión bibliográfica para complementar las listas de especies. Se registraron 51 especies de macroalgas bentónicas, una especie de fanerógama, 186 especies de invertebrados, y cinco especies de vertebrados para un total de 243 especies marinas. Las Rhodophyta son la ficoflora más representada con 29 es- pecies, mientras que el Phylum Mollusca lo es para la fauna con 139 especies. La mayoría de las especies marinas se registraron en el intermareal medio e inferior; por consiguiente la menor riqueza se registró en el intermareal superior y la constituyen algas filamentosas y foliosas, así como moluscos y crustáceos con hábitos ramoneadores y filtradores.
