    92-96_fakta, Page 1 Förord Detta dokument handlar om vad SAAB, så vitt jag vet, sysslade med fram till tidigt sjuttiotal. Tyngdpunkten ligger på SAABs bilar och då både produktionsmodeller och konceptbilar. Egentligen skulle det bara handla om tvåtaktsmodellerna men det vore opraktiskt att inte ta med även SAAB 95/96 med V4-motorer. Dock avhandlas ej flygsektionen utom som information om hur SAAB tillkom. Bilmodellerna beskrivs så noga som möjligt. Det har inte alltid varit lätt att få tag på pålitliga specifikationer på vissa modeller, t.ex. GT 750 och GT 850. Mer än 50% av de internetsidor som påstod sig ha specifikationer på dessa påstod att motorn hade 6 ventiler !!!!! (Båda modellerna är ju 2-taktare) Behöver jag tala om att jag försvann ”som en avlöning” från dessa sidor. Dock går jag inte in på detaljspecifikationer när det gäller motorerna då jag planerar ett särskilt dokument om SAABs motorer men det projektet har ännu inte tagit form. Med i detta dokument finns, i så god kronologisk ordning som är praktiskt möjligt, kortfattade beskrivningar av annan produktion och projekt som försiggick under 50-, 60- och 70-tal. SAAB gör ett försök att producera en liten aluminiumbåt 1944, när krigslutet kunde skönjas, formades planerna att man skulle starta tillverkning av en liten aluminiumbåt. 1946 inleddes produktionen. Båtmodellen kallades för Saalina och var en nitad aluminiumkonstruktion, man hade ju gott om aluminiumplåt och nitar från flygplans- tillverkningen. I första hand var den avsedd att ros men kunde även ha en utombordsmotor. Båten var öppen men åtminstone ett exemplar blev halvdäckat och fick vindruta.

Abstract: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers 1905-2011 contain his extensive research files, photographs, and prints on a wide variety of automotive topics. The papers reflect the complexity and breadth of Ludvigsen’s work as an author, researcher, and consultant. Approximately 70,000 of his photographic negatives have been digitized and are available on the Revs Digital Library. Thousands of undigitized prints in several series are also available but the copyright of the prints is unclear for many of the images. Ludvigsen’s research files are divided into two series: Subjects and Marques, each focusing on technical aspects, and were clipped or copied from newspapers, trade publications, and manufacturer’s literature, but there are occasional blueprints and photographs. Some of the files include Ludvigsen’s consulting research and the records of his Ludvigsen Library. Scope and Content Note: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers are organized into eight series.     ENRESO WORLD - ILab Different Car Engine Types Istas René Graduated in Automotive Technologies 1-1-2019 1 4 - STROKE ENGINE A four-stroke (also four-cycle) engine is an internal combustion (IC) engine in which the piston completes four separate strokes while turning the crankshaft. A stroke refers to the full travel of the piston along the cylinder, in either direction. The four separate strokes are termed: 1. Intake: Also known as induction or suction. This stroke of the piston begins at top dead center (T.D.C.) and ends at bottom dead center (B.D.C.). In this stroke the intake valve must be in the open position while the piston pulls an air-fuel mixture into the cylinder by producing vacuum pressure into the cylinder through its downward motion. The piston is moving down as air is being sucked in by the downward motion against the piston. 2. Compression: This stroke begins at B.D.C, or just at the end of the suction stroke, and ends at T.D.C. In this stroke the piston compresses the air-fuel mixture in preparation for ignition during the power stroke (below). Both the intake and exhaust valves are closed during this stage. 3. Combustion: Also known as power or ignition. This is the start of the second revolution of the four stroke cycle. At this point the crankshaft has completed a full 360 degree revolution. While the piston is at T.D.C. (the end of the compression stroke) the compressed air-fuel mixture is ignited by a spark plug (in a gasoline engine) or by heat generated by high compression (diesel engines), forcefully returning the piston to B.D.C.

The design highlighted the company’s roots in aviation. Offset front view of the Saab Quantum with its very stylish glass-fibre body-shell. Over the last few years a number of very sleek streamlined sports cars have been built in the USA. Known as the Saab Quantum, the cars are based on components from the Saab 96, and are built by the Quantum Corporation in Rockland, Massachusetts. Several modifications have been made to the cars which include a specially built steel /aluminium chassis-frame and a sleek fibre-glass body shell. The new chassis-frame has a shorter wheel-base of 208 cm compared to 250 cm on standard Saab models. To improved weight distribution the ram powered engine and drive-train have been repositioned so that the gearbox and differential are now positioned in front of the engine. Saabs original coil spring suspension has also been replaced with a pneumatic suspension concept. The body shell itself, weighing only 38 kg, is included in the cars total weight of 405 kg. The Saab Quantum is built for sports-car drivers, rally competition drivers and one model specifically for drivers competing in high speed race-track competitions. 1 The standard model has a Saab 96 engine with a four-speed gearbox and a steel chassis. The competition models have tuned Saab 750 sport engines with four-speed gearboxes and an aluminium chassis-frame.

Formula Junior Se sidan 6 Vårupptakt i Burträsk Lördagen den 17 Maj samlades runt ett 15-tal av Norrlandssektionens medlemmar i Burträsk för sedvanlig vårupptakt. Träffen hölls på hembygdsområdet intill camping och kyrka och det fina vädret bidrog till goda möjligheter att träffa folk och skaffa nya kontakter. Sektionsordföranden Thomas Ramsell med kollegor hade fixat en tipsrunda runt samhället med ett gäng kluriga frågor som satte hjärnan på prov med skiftande resultat hos deltagarna. Efter tipsrundan erbjöds fika på campingen och prisutdelning. Dagens vinnare var Greger Nyberg från Docksta med en Saab 96 T 16. Ett gäng Saab 96 vid fikastoppet i Botsmark, från vänster Johnny Andersson, Greger samt William Text och foto Anders Johansson Gidlund. Uppsställning inför starten av tipsrundan där även lite Till träffen kom även ett antal WW-bubblor och en nyare Saabar fans representerade i form av Saab 900 av de i Burträsk tillverkade RPB-bilarna (den gröna i och ett par Saab 99. Ägare är artikelförfattaren samt bakgrunden). Thomas Ramsell då det gäller den oranga 99-an. Burträsk är som bekant känt för sin osttillverkning och har följdaktligen en jordbruks och transporthistoria så givetvis dök det upp en veterantraktor samt en gammal, väl renoverad mjölkbil som nyttjades av Daniel Löfbom på flaket vid prisutdelningen.
