Tafelmusik Extends Its Reach Through International Broadcasts Tafelmusik extends its reach through international broadcasts Tafelmusik’s London Barbican Centre concert with Karina Gauvin airs January 12 on CBC Three multimedia programs available on Stingray Classica Toronto, January 9, 2020… Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra is excited to launch the new decade with a series of international concert broadcasts on CBC Music and Stingray Classica. On Sunday, January 12 at 11:05 AM, Tafelmusik’s Love & Betrayal program, directed by Elisa Citterio and featuring guest soprano Karina Gauvin, will be broadcast on CBC Music’s “In Concert” hosted by Paolo Pietropaolo. Recorded live on November 24 at Milton Court Concert Hall in London’s Barbican Centre, this concert drew rave reviews from English critics: "Elisa Citterio heads an ensemble of the very highest calibre ... Poignant hardly covers it, with Tafelmusik taking the dynamic down, hypnotically, to the regions of what must have been pppp or thereabouts. Unforgettable: raw pain laid bare ... Gauvin’s perfectly placed high notes were a joy, but the sheer drama of ‘Furie terribili’ from Rinaldo was utterly remarkable, an expression of pure dramatic force. Gauvin and each member of Tafelmusik lived every note." —Seen and Heard International Featured on Tafelmusik’s recent tour of the UK and Belgium, this expertly crafted program contrasts ardent seduction with furious defiance. Arias from operas by Handel and Vivaldi are interspersed with dramatic instrumental interludes by Locatelli and Vivaldi, including two works that are also featured on Citterio’s first recording with Tafelmusik, Vivaldi con amore. “CBC Music’s ‘In Concert’ is thrilled to present this spectacular concert featuring the world- renowned Tafelmusik from London's Barbican Centre. Thanks to our international alliance with the European Broadcasting Union, this performance will be shared with listeners around the world as well as hundreds of thousands of Tafelmusik’s fans across Canada,” said Denise Ball, Executive Producer, CBC Music. “Every Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm, ‘In Concert’ offers the best in live classical performances from home and abroad.” In addition to the London Barbican concert, three of Tafelmusik’s signature, award-winning multimedia programs created by Alison Mackay are currently available on Stingray Classica, a premium multiplatform provider dedicated to classical music, opera, and ballet, with 20 million subscribers in 40 countries. Tales of Two Cities, House of Dreams, and The Galileo Project are available on Stingray’s international cable network and through Video on Demand (VOD) services. • Antonio Vivaldi from Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia
Antonio Vivaldi From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (Italian: [anˈtɔːnjo ˈluːtʃo viˈvaldi]; 4 March 1678 – 28 July 1741) was an Italian Baroque composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher and cleric. Born in Venice, he is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers, and his influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe. He is known mainly for composing many instrumental concertos, for the violin and a variety of other instruments, as well as sacred choral works and more than forty operas. His best-known work is a series of violin concertos known as The Four Seasons. Many of his compositions were written for the female music ensemble of the Ospedale della Pietà, a home for abandoned children where Vivaldi (who had been ordained as a Catholic priest) was employed from 1703 to 1715 and from 1723 to 1740. Vivaldi also had some success with expensive stagings of his operas in Venice, Mantua and Vienna. After meeting the Emperor Charles VI, Vivaldi moved to Vienna, hoping for preferment. However, the Emperor died soon after Vivaldi's arrival, and Vivaldi himself died less than a year later in poverty. Life Childhood Antonio Lucio Vivaldi was born in 1678 in Venice, then the capital of the Republic of Venice. He was baptized immediately after his birth at his home by the midwife, which led to a belief that his life was somehow in danger. Though not known for certain, the child's immediate baptism was most likely due either to his poor health or to an earthquake that shook the city that day.

The group records for Naxos, for whom it has made more than twenty recordings. They have made two music Griselda, RV718 (1735) videos, one film soundtrack, have collaborated with Isadora Duncan and Baroque dancers, have co-produced opera and worked with Balinese Gamelan. While focusing heavily on the repertoire of seventeenth-century France and Dramma per musica in Three Acts England, Aradia also performs works by the Italian and German masters of the baroque, as well as contemporary pieces commissioned by the group. In July 2000 Aradia was the featured ensemble in residence at the New Zealand Libretto by Apostolo Zeno (1668-1750), revised by Carlo Goldoni (1707-1793) Chamber Music Festival and in July 2003 performed at Musica nel Chiostro in Tuscany. According to Robert (Performing edition prepared by Kevin Mallon) Graves, Aradia was the daughter of Apollo’s twin sisters. She was sent by the gods to teach mankind to order the music of the natural world into song. Gualtiero, King of Tessaglia (Thessaly) .

The genus just newly created is celebrated everywhere. Not quite. For in Romee were allowed operas for decades heard exclusively in a closed society. The Papal State, who wanted to seem virtuous achieved at least outwardly like all these stories about love, lust, passions and all the ancient heroes and gods was morally rather questionable.

  • Ottone in Villa Di Antonio Vivaldi, Il Debutto Operistico Del Prete Rosso Diretto Da Diego Fasolis

ANALYSIS AND REHEARSAL CONSIDERATION ON ANTONIO VIVALDI’S GLORIA – RV 589 by JOO YEON HWANG B.A., Chung Ang University, 2008 A REPORT submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree MASTER OF MUSIC Department of Music College of Arts and Sciences KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY Manhattan, Kansas 2012 Approved by: Major Professor Julie Yu-Oppenheim Abstract This report presents the biography of the composer Antonio Vivaldi, background of his composition Gloria, musical characteristics and analysis. Moreover, for a successful performance, rehearsal plans and techniques are also included. Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741), one of the representative composers in Baroque period (1600-1750), wrote Gloria, in the early 18th century. The composition date is still disputed between scholars. He composed three settings of the Gloria text: RV 588, 589 and 590. Out of them RV 589 is the most performed setting. Gloria consists of twelve movements and orchestration of trumpet, oboe, strings, and continuo. Homophonic and polyphonic style is prevalent in this work. In addition, focus should be placed on the harmonic suspensions, the flow of chromatic melodic lines and melismas. For the recital, Chamber Singers consisted of 23 people who were the members of Concert Choir who have training focusing on clean and light tone with non-vibrato style.
