Day 1

This morning, you’ll be met at the port and shown to the Oslo airport for your flight to Edinburgh. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your guide and escorted to your hotel. Check in and enjoy the rest of the day to explore at your leisure. Walking the cobblestone streets of this medieval wonder is like stepping into a fairytale and an afternoon on your own is a great way to experience your first taste of Edinburgh. Regroup for dinner at the hotel and use the occasion to get to know your fellow travelers a little better.

Day 2

Begin a full-day exploration of Edinburgh with a walk down beautiful Victoria Street, a favorite among locals who come to enjoy its charming cafés and lively pubs. Next, enter mighty Edinburgh Castle for a tour inside the great walls. Explore the castle chambers, hear tales of those who once lived here, and soak up spectacular views of the below. Continue onto the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official Scottish residence of Her Majesty the Queen. Learn about the palace’s turbulent history and view the Royal Collection of art on display. Later, enjoy a special treat—a locally sourced Scottish meal at the Forage and Chatter Restaurant.

Day 3

Come morning, set off with your private guide on your way to Inverness. En route, stop at Scone Palace for a tour of its outstanding collection of antiques, artwork, and rare artifacts. Explore the spectacular grounds and marvel at views of the River Tay and towering Grampian Mountains. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before making your way to the historic Edradour Distillery, heralded as the last stronghold of handcrafted single malt whisky. Learn about the art of whisky making and sip a few of their finest expressions before arriving in Inverness. Check into your hotel and enjoy some time to unwind before regrouping for dinner.

Day 4

Spend the day exploring the Inverness region. Your first stop is Culloden Battlefield, the site of the 1746 final Jacobite Rising—the last and most harrowing pitched battles in British history—which lasted less than an hour but forever changed the course of Scottish history. Return to that fateful day through actor portrayals and experience the battle in a 360° theater that offers a rare look at the forces that were at play. Continue on to Cawdor Castle, a 14th-century fortress steeped in intrigue and mystery. Explore its opulent chambers and hear the tales of this ancient castle that remains the home of the Cawdor family as it has for 600 years. Return to the hotel before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5

Following breakfast at your hotel, board your coach en route to Edinburgh. Enjoy some time to unwind upon arrival before your journey’s grand finale—a visit to the world-famous Taste of Scotland for a lively immersion in local music, dance, song, and lore in the historic setting of Prestonfield House, just a stone’s throw from the Royal Mile.

Day 6

After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll be escorted to the airport in Edinburgh to catch your outbound flight.

This Land Journey is recommended to guests who are able to walk for extended periods, at a moderate pace. Guests who utilize a wheelchair may not be able to participate in all activities as described.
