Inverness General information Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands acts as the hub for transport, administration and economic links in the north of Scotland. One of the fastest growing cities in Europe it is well provisioned with retail, healthcare and industrial sectors plus a booming tourist trade. Within minutes of leaving the city it is possible to be surrounded by wide-open spaces and stunning scenery – most notably Loch Ness, which at around 23 miles long holds more fresh water than all the lakes of England and Wales combined. The River Ness that flows out from Loch Ness winds through the heart of the city, providing tranquil riverside walks along its banks and Ness Islands. Transport links Inverness’s connections to the rest of the UK, Europe and beyond are strong, with daily flights from the airport to London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Dublin and Amsterdam. Regular rail services serve Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, plus the Caledonian Sleeper runs overnight to London Euston six times per week. By road it is 2.5 hours to Aberdeen, and access to the UK motorway network via Perth can be made in under 3 hours. Travel times to Highland mountain regions – and their winter ski resorts – are also brief with Aviemore and the Cairngorms under an hour to the south-east and Ben Nevis just 70 miles to the south-east. Ullapool and the West Coast can be reached in just over an hour. Inverness Airport The location of Inverness Airport 9 miles to the east of the city makes it ideally positioned for commuting in from the wider area. -

Matters Arising from the Minutes Neil Stewart provided the following update on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council: 3.1 In response to the request from Councillor Smith for the provision of a bus layby on the A96 at Colpy road end (northbound) for Service 10 (Aberdeen - Huntly - Elgin) coaches to pull off the road to allow passengers to board and alight, he confirmed his understanding that drawings have been undertaken of the proposed location and a response is awaited from Transport Scotland. 3.2 In response to Councillor Walker’s request for lighting and a base of hardstanding at the bus stop at Strawberry Field Road (on Broadstraik Brae, Westhill), he confirmed that the base has been installed and the request for lighting is currently being considered by colleagues in Roads and Landscapes services. -

Lhanbryde Primary School Nursery is registered to provide a care service to a maximum of 35 children at any one time aged from three years to those not yet attending primary school. The service operates from its own premises adjoining the primary school building; it has its own secure play area that is directly accessible from the play room. The service also has use of the adjacent school grounds. We check services are meeting the principles of Getting it Right for Every Child (also known as GIRFEC, Scotland's national approach to improving outcomes and wellbeing for children by offering the right help at the right time from the right people. It supports them and their parent(s) to work with the services that can help them. There are eight wellbeing indicators at the heart of GIRFEC, safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, respected, responsible and included (also known as SHANARRI). What people told us There was a total of 28 children present during the inspection, although numbers fluctuated during the day due to the nature of the service provided. We saw that the children were relaxed, happy and assured. They appeared confident in their play, at times being engaged in play on their own, in pairs or small groups. -

transport guide FOREWORD The Moray Forum is a constituted voluntary organisation that was established to provide a direct link between the Area Forums and the Moray Community Planning Partnership. The Forum is made up of two representatives of each of the Area Forums and meets on a regular basis. Further information about The Moray Forum is available on: www.yourmoray.org.uk Area Forums are recognised by the Moray Community Planning Partnership as an important means of engaging local people in the Community Planning process. In rural areas - such as Moray - transport is a major consideration, so in September 2011 the Moray Forum held its first transport seminar to look at the issues and concerns that affect our local communities in respect of access to transport. Two actions that came from that event was the establishment of a Passenger Forum and a Transport Providers Network. This work was taken forward by the Moray Forum Transport Working Group made up of representatives of the Area Forums, Moray Council, NHS Grampian, tsiMORAY, and community transport schemes. In September 2013 the Working Group repeated the seminar to see how much progress had been made on the actions and issues identified in 2011. As a direct result of the work of the Group this Directory has been produced in order to address an on-going concern that has been expressed of the lack of information on what transport is available in Moray, the criteria for accessing certain transport services, and where to go for further advice. The Moray Forum Transport Working Group would like to acknowledge the help of all the people who provided information for this Directory, and thereby made a contribution towards the integration of public, private and community transport services within Moray. -
