First Class Barbershop Services Offered FIRST CLASS BARBERSHOP SERVICES OFFERED BEARD TRIM - $15 Your barber will use trimmers/clippers to size down the shape and appearance of your beard. In addition to knowing the length of facial hair that you are comfortable with, you will also want to think about what style you are going for.. for example: whether you want a "dapper" hipster beard, a grizzly lumberjack beard, a red- carpet clean look, a modern goatee, some short minimalistic stubble, or another unique style. When it comes to visiting the barber, communication really is key. It is essential that you have a clear vision of your desired beard style when you visit— we encourage you to do a bit of research on the type of beard style you're interested in before your appointment. If you can find a picture of exactly the beard style that you are going for, this will make it much easier for your barber to understand exactly what you want and produce stellar work. BEARD TRIM + RAZOR - $18 Lay back, relax, and enjoy the experience of a proper straight razor shave. Indulge yourself as a steady stream of steam and hot- towels soften and warm your beard. We use the best pre- shave oil to make your shave noticeably smooth and moisturize your skin. This shave is topped off with a soothing post- shave balm and cool towel. CREW CUT + HOT TOWEL - $20 The crew cut is similar to a "buzz" cut but slightly longer in length. This classic style looks good on almost any guy. When asking your barber for a crew cut, make sure to indicate the type of fade you want on the sides and just how much length needs to be left on top. Enjoy a crew cut from your First- Class B arber with the relaxing, finishing touch of a hot towel. FACE SHAVE + HOT TOWEL - $30 A well- groomed face projects a sense of confidence and style. When you receive a hot towel shave, you’ll experience many benefits beyond looking and feeling great: it promotes circulation, opens the pores, soothes the irritated skin, moisturizes the skin, and best of all, it's relaxing! Once experiencing this treatment, it will become an integral part of your daily routine to use hot towel before, during and after shave. It adds a significant impact on your and grooming yourself. Go ahead, get started with this amazing experience at least once a month. FACIAL MASSAGE - $25 Lay back, relax, and enjoy the indulgence of hot towels and steam facial massage with our premium massage creams, tonics and oils to rejuvenate your skin. Treat yourself to hot towels, steam, massage, and a gentle cleansing cream while your face is expertly massaged. The relaxing facial massage is topped off with a toner to reduce pore size and gentle moisturizer to help to give your skin a clean and healthy glow. FADE CUT + HOT TOWEL - $30 A fade essentially means a transition of lengths and color on the back & sides of the hair. This means that the hair is not all buzzed to one length and has some sort of variation of lengths blended in together. The level of the fade - taper, low, mid or high is defined by how high the shortest part of the hair goes up the head and starts to transition into another longer length. A fade can essentially be split up into 4 key categories based on how high the fade goes up the head: taper, low, mid, or high. Talk to your barber to see what they think for your face shape, the style you're going for, as well as your lifestyle. Different fade heights will work with different face shapes and different styles. Enjoy a fade cut from your First Class B arber with the relaxing, finishing touch of a hot towel. Page | 1 of 2 FIRST CLASS BARBERSHOP SERVICES OFFERED HEAD RAZOR SHAVE - $30 After bringing your hair down to the scalp with clippers, we wrap your head in hot towels and prep with the finest pre- shave oils and creams. Hot lather and a straight razor head shave are finished off with post- shave balm and a cool towel for your comfort. LONG-LAYERED CUT - $35 If you love your long hair and don't want to get rid of the length, but are looking for a new style, then long- layered haircuts are the way to go! Layers can add life to your longer hair and also help remove some of the weight for those with thicker hair. As well, if you have thin or fine hair, layers can add a ton of volume. Layered hair can make you look and feel years younger! REGULAR CUT - $30 Have a hairstyle in mind before visiting your barber. If possible, research the different types of haircuts and find a picture that matches the style you want to show us during your visit. For example: If you’re asking for a fade, know which type or number (e.g. guard size refers to length) that you prefer. Decide how you want to style your hair on top. What hairstyle you pick will determine the length of your cut and what parts of your hair need to be layered, thinned, straightened or shortened. Finally, select how to trim your neckline. Your neckline can be cut in a few ways – blocked, rounded, or tapered. This is a great place to start! SHAMPOO + CUT - $35 If you’ve got a little bit more time on your hands, you might want to consider our Shampoo + Cut service. Ideal for those who want to look good, quick, this option includes a thorough shampoo and condition prior to your cut and utilizes professional shampoo and conditioner products. After fully cleaning and conditioning your hair, our trained professionals at First Class are ready to tend to your style needs, whether you’re after a quick trim, a restyle, or you're wanting to put some much- needed shape back into a tired look. SHAPE-UP - $12 The quicker, simpler approach your barber can take for your shape- up to get you ready and out of the door as fast as possible! SHAPE-UP ALL AROUND - $25 The shape- up hairstyle, also sometimes called a "line- up" or an "edge- up" is a way to shape the haircut. This shaping involves straightening of the hairline. In fact, there is usually no actual cutting. The barber will use outliners (clippers) or a razor to make neat lines around the client's haircut. Usually, the haircut will be outlined around the head, including the area behind the areas, the lower part of the head and the sideburns. If there is any stray hair beyond the shaped- up hairline, the barber will shave it off. Page | 2 of 2 .

  • Getting to the Root of Hair Loss
26 March 2012 | MP3 at voaspecialenglish.com Getting to the Root of Hair Loss Reuters An example of male pattern baldness SHIRLEY GRIFFITH: This is SCIENCE IN THE NEWS in VOA Special English. I'm Shirley Griffith. JUNE SIMMS: And I'm June Simms. Today we talk about hair. We will tell what hair is, how it grows, and some of the main reasons people lose it. (MUSIC) SHIRLEY GRIFFITH: Hair has always been an important sign of beauty. This is especially true for women. Next to the face, hair is one of the main qualities people look for when they consider a woman's beauty. Whether long or short, curly or straight, hair often gets a lot of attention. People who have it value it. Those of us who do not often mourn its loss. JUNE SIMMS: Each hair on a person's head grows from a single tube-like hole in the skin called a follicle. People are born with all of the hair follicles they are ever going to have. The average person has about one hundred thousand hair follicles. They begin to form on a fetus around the third month of pregnancy. 2 The part of the hair under the skin is known as the hair root. The hair sticking out from the skin is known as the hair shaft. The shaft is made up of dead cells that have been pushed up through the root. At the base of the hair root is a small ball-like formation called a bulb. This is where new cells are formed.

  • Read Mezzo Millimetro by Caitlynn Cummings
1 of 9 Mezzo Millimetro by Caitlynn Cummings It wasn’t the architecture in Rome that captivated me. Not the marble in the Pantheon. Not the pulsing history of the foro. Not the charming serpentine streets or the glassed-in Ara Pacis. It wasn’t the thrilling danger and graffiti of San Lorenzo. Nor the thefts and cleverness of Termini. Not the deep-fried zucchini blossoms. Not the caffè corretti. Not the ancient Tiber. Not even the sublimity of Bernini’s Daphne, her back turning to bark. Nor was it Mussolini’s EUR, though that was closer. It was Shelley’s ponytail. The metro ride to the EUR was uneventful: a handful of stops on the B line toward Laurentina from Termini. I peeled myself off the orange vinyl seats — thighs sticking, skirt clinging — and exited the bowels of the subway to an entirely different city. Ten kilometres from romantic Rome, postcard Rome, this was a ghost town, though that connotes the Wild West. This was more like a fascist hospital. Gleaming. White. Orderly. I wandered the streets of an Italy where Mussolini won. Wide boulevards, symmetry, impositions. I felt extremely small. Twice I wondered how long ago I had washed my hands. The blinding façades made me feel dirty. I scanned my map for the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, the square colosseum. When I saw its stairs, I did a double take. The small specks moving across it were people. The flight was as tall as an apartment building, and atop it the austere palazzo sanitized the concept of a colosseum into a fear-mongering block.
