RESEARCH We undertake research to promote the globally sustainable use of natural resources. Our research has a large focus on resource efficiency, circular economies, eco-innovation, and low- carbon societies. Using a holistic approach, we aim to understand the interactions between resources and energy sectors, such as waste management, circular economies, and resources within energy models.

We engage in research on financing low-carbon economies with a specific angle on behavioural economics to improve how climate policies are made over the years. With the current rate of global growth, research to assess the environmental sustainability of global food production and trade is undertaken, with a focus on agriculture’s interaction with land, climate and water.

RESEARCH We use interdisciplinary methodologies and problem-focused research to generate new insights about sustainable and inclusive prosperity. Our research investigates the standards of living in relation to the fundamentals of social and economic life: work, leisure, consumption, wealth, wellbeing and energy.

We explore methods for developing new social, economic and political institutions for sustainable co-operation (across cultures, beliefs and interests), decision-making and value creation. We investigate how science and technology innovations are impacting the negotiation of the human-environment

interface, as well as how to harness new innovation for serving social justice, equity and wellbeing.
