MOTORCYCLES Acceptance & Submission Guidelines Because potential buyers come to Catawiki looking for special and rare motorcycles, our in-house experts select every piece for our auctions, ensuring they are of premium quality and are presented in the best possible way. We do this because we aim to keep our bidders excited and help them find the pieces they’re interested in whilst ensuring our sellers have great selling experiences. Younger bikes may be accepted if they are of very limited production or have a special provenance (e.g owned by a famous person). ✓ ✓ ✗ ✗ Collectable mopeds and scooters ● We seek classic mopeds that are more than 20 years old with enough historical interest to be collectable and worth preserving or restoring. ✓ ✓ ✗ ● We seek classic scooters that are more than 20 years old with enough historical interest to be collectable and worth preserving or restoring. ✓ ✓ ✗ Barn finds ● We seek barn finds that are more than 20 years old, that are rare and valuable and therefore are of collectable interest despite their poor condition. ✓ ✓ ✗ ✗ ✗ ✘ Barn finds that are less than 20 years old, which are not worth restoring, have a value of less than €200 and are not of collectors’ interest, are not suitable for our auctions. Unsuitable motorcycles and items ✘ Motorcycles, scooters and mopeds less than 10 years old, that are not of a special limited production and that do not have any collector worthy provenance are not suitable for our auctions. ✘ Replicas of official brands produced in Asia are generally not suitable for our auctions. ✗ ✗ Motorcycles accessories and motobilia items are not suitable for our motorcycle auctions. They may be offered in the dedicated motobilia auctions. Spare parts and motorcycles parts of collectable value (>20 years old) will only be accepted if they are in excellent condition. Condition In order to ensure the adequate level of quality in our auctions, Catawiki applies a motorcycle condition grading scale. The grading reflects different condition in relation to the age of the motorcycle, scooter or moped. This should be thorough and honest, and follow the guidelines on the next page. Potential buyers are more likely to bid on lots with a good description, all relevant information displayed clearly and, of course, comprehensive and clear photos. Description guidelines If you are using our website to upload your lots, tips will appear to give you guidance about what information we need to know about your lot. The fields that you fill in help to present the information in a way that’s easy for the buyer to read.
