Assessment of a Fuel Cell Powered Air Taxi in Urban Flight Conditions M. Husemann1, C. Glaser2, E. Stumpf3 Institute of Aerospace Systems (ILR), RWTH Aachen University, 52062 Aachen, Germany This paper presents a first estimation of potential impacts on the flight operations of small air taxis in urban areas using a fuel cell instead of a battery as an energy resource. The expanding application of electric components is seen as a possibility to reduce operating costs and environmental impacts in the form of noise and pollutant emissions due to lower consumption of fossil fuels. The majority of such designs have so far been based on the use of (not yet) sufficiently efficient batteries. Long charging times, possible overheating or a limited service life in the form of limited charging cycles pose a challenge to the development of such aircraft. Parameter studies are conducted to identify possible advantages of using a fuel cell. In particular, the range and payload capacity ist investigated and first effects on the cost structure will be presented. The evaluation of the studies shows that the use of fuel cells enables significantly longer ranges than the use of batteries. In addition, the range potential gained can be used, for example, to transport more payload over the same distance. Furthermore, the technological maturity in the form of the individual energy density and the weight of the powertrain unit has a significant effect on the cost structure. Fuel cells therefore have a high potential for applications in the mobility sector, but still require extensive research efforts. I. FOREWORD The subject of peaceful uses of nuclear explosions hns been attracting increasing attention in view of i~s immense potentialities. The United States of America and the Soviet Union, which are among the countries most ad- vanced in the field of nuclear science and technology, have already conducted several experiments in this dire- ction and have several projects underway. The principai aim of the compilation of the present bibliography is to make available to the Indian scientists and engineers up-to-date information on the subject based upon all available literature. The bibliography comprises 685 references with in- formative abstracts. The main sources of information used for compiling it are .-Nuclear Science Abstracts, (NSA), primary journals and reports. Whenever USA is referred to, its volume and abstract numbers are given at the bottom of the abstract. In addition to the author and report number indexes, a list of major Plowshare events is also given. The compiler of this bibliography is Miss.ft.A.liagarathna of the IN IS Unit of the Library and Technical Information Section of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Although every effort has been cade to include all available pub- lished literature in this field till May 1970, omissions are inevitable. -

A partir d’aquesta premissa, s’escull el dron de passatgers com a mitjà de transport i es busca adaptar tot un sistema infrastructural per al vehicle autònom dins el perímetre d’una ciutat, Barcelona. En un inici, la primera pregunta a respondre és: permet la normativa actual l’ús de drons de passatgers autònoms en zones urbanes? Tant les regulacions europees com les nacionals espanyoles han estat estudiades i resumides per determinar que sí es permeten operacions amb aquest tipus de vehicles i es preveu la seva integració dintre de l’aviació civil. Seguidament, un estudi de mercat de taxi drons és realitzat amb l’objectiu d’esbrinar si la tecnologia d’avui dia permet operar a paràmetres òptims i oferir el servei de taxi d’una manera completament segura i satisfactòria per al client. Prototips en fase de test i actualment funcionals han estat analitzats; per finalment, elegir un d’aquest últims com a candidat apte per al transport de persones dins la capital catalana. Un cop es té el vehicle de transport, cal mirar si la pròpia ciutat ofereix garanties d’èxit per aquest servei de transport aeri. -

This began with point-to-point communication between mainframe computers and terminals, expanded to point-to-point connections between computers and then early research into packet switching. Packet switched networks such as ARPANET, Mark I at NPL in the UK, CYCLADES, Merit Network, Tymnet, and Telenet, were developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s using a variety of protocols. The ARPANET in particular led to the development of protocols for internetworking, where multiple separate networks could be joined together into a network of networks. In 1982 the Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) was standardized and the concept of a world-wide network of fully interconnected TCP/IP networks called the Internet was introduced. -

[This group provided the Network Information Center (NIC) for the Arpanet and the Defense Data Network (DDN), a project for which she was the principal investigator from 1973 until 1991. Earlier she was a member of Douglas Engelbart’s Augmentation Research Center (ARC) at SRI [which [housed] the second computer on the Arpanet. It was on this computer that the NIC resided initially.] Jake is also a volunteer here at the museum. She and her husband, Dr. Steven Stellman have worked on creating a geographic information system that has been used to estimate the exposer to various herbicides and defoliants in Vietnam under contract by the National Academy of Sciences that has been backed by the Institute of Medicine. She and her husband are professors of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University. Main Claim: Herbicides were sprayed by the United States for military purposes during the Vietnam War at far greater rates then domestically. Sub Claim(s): When a link of dioxins to birth defects was established and the use of them were banned within the United States, the Military actually soon followed halting the use by 1971, 4 years before the end of the war.
