We (our club) donated $1,000.00 to the bush fire appeal and I urge all other country music associations and clubs to do likewise. Remember we’re all one big family in country music. Next we (committee) decided we’d get in early and remind everyone that we will need a new secretary next A.G.M. (August) as our Dear Rob Smith will be retiring from club duties. Rob has worn many hats as a committee member and we will be very sad to lose him from the committee. Please also keep in mind that we will need other positions filled on the committee. Your new ideas and input as a committee member are very valuable in keeping our club running. Being on the committee is not as hard as you might think (especially as we all work together to make the load lighter). We meet once a month at Lorraine’s home. It’s great to hear of another couple of new bands starting up in country. Even our own Raelz from our committee has joined a new band called ‘Kindred Spirit’. Keep a lookout for them. Well bye for now. Thank God for Country. Di Smith (President) Remember ‘Be generous and you will be prosperous. Thank goodness the weather has become cooler. I couldn’t take it much longer! Well our band of the month was Bill Bedford and Country Roundup. It was a great pleasure to have Bill back at our club. He was one of the bands to support us when we first started at the Canine Club in Kilburn. He hasn’t lost any of the sound we want to hear as a Bush Balladeer. Thanks Bill and band. I think the dancers enjoyed the old style numbers. The line dancers also enjoyed the band. Bill’s little granddaughter, Ashlee sang a song with him. Merrilyn Jaensch also joined Bill and the band for a number of songs. Bill has a CD coming out soon. It is a tribute to his daughter Kylie who was a member of his band. Sadly she passed away seven years ago. Several of her songs are on the CD. There will be 18 songs in all. For information about the CD please see me at the Club or catch Bill at a gig. A great day was had by all. Bye for now Lorraine Page 3 Bill Bedford and band (Barry Vallen, Bobby Craig and Kevin Bergin) Interesting shadow! A vibrant pitch and easy-to-access information is the key to getting your share of the media love. Most time- poor journalists would prefer to receive an email containing a short pitch, press release, photo/s and video clip rather than a phone call – especially in the fi rst instance. Here are some tips from the Adelaide Fringe Publicity Team on how to sell your story to the media: 1) Ensure you upload a Media Kit to FERS (Step 3, File Upload) These appear on our web page that only journalists can see and the kits encourage them to fi nd out more about you and your show.
