  • 248 Double Treaties Ended the Seven Years'
#248 Double Treaties ended the Seven Years’ War – The February 10, 1763, Treaty of Paris, and the February 15, 1763, Treaty of Hubertusburg The Lord ordained that there be double treaties – the February 10, 1763, Treaty of Paris, and the February 15, 1763, Treaty of Hubertusburg – to end the Seven Years’ War. The second (and final) of the double treaties, the February 15, 1763, Treaty of Hubertusburg, began the time period of 29 years less 2 months to the Daniel 7:25 “think to change times” December 15, 1791, Bill of Rights. Remember from our Unsealings about The Ten Horns of Daniel 7:7, and our learning about the Seven Years’ War, that France and Britain had already been at war in America in the French and Indian War (1754-1763). The Seven Years’ War (1756-1763) soon began, featuring Austria vs. Prussia. The war between France and Britain in North America then spilled into the Seven Years’ War, with France allying with Austria and Britain allying with Prussia. Key Understanding: Two treaties to end the Seven Years’ War. The natural or historical reason for two treaties at the end of the French and Indian War / Seven Years’ War is that the first treaty dealt with France vs. England with a resolution of the New World’s French and Indian War, and the second treaty dealt with Austria vs. Prussia and the Seven Years’ War. The prophetic reason for the double treaties ending the Seven Years’ War is to point to the role of the end of the Seven Years’ War in the double fulfillment of the Ten Horns of Daniel 7:7 and Revelation 13:1.

  • David Matthew Jacob Swanson
Habsburg Self and Bourbon Other in the Franco–Austrian Alliance, 1756–1791 by David Matthew Jacob Swanson A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in History Department of History and Classics University of Alberta © David Matthew Jacob Swanson, 2014 ii Abstract Taking cues from the work of Paul W. Schroeder, this project seeks to investigate the particular conditions which allowed the Habsburg Monarchy and two of its leading politicians—Leopold II and Metternich—to have such pride of place in Schroeder’s ‘transformation’ of the European state-system. It contends that the international politics of restraint, reciprocity, and far-sighted collective security predate the French Revolution and the Habsburg reaction to it, instead proceeding from the Austrian experience in the 18th Century. At the same time, inspired by both constructivist and critical approaches to diplomatic history, this project aims to set this ‘Habsburg self’ against its ‘Bourbon other’ in a discussion of the Monarchy’s primary ally from 1756–1791: the Kingdom of France. In this sense it acts as a much-needed counterpart to the burgeoning literature on French perceptions of Austria, Marie Antoinette, and Austrophobia. Far from a “deadlocked alliance”, what emerges from this analysis is the history of a relationship—founded on a significant degree of assumption of commensurability—which Habsburg policymakers consistently sought to improve through further investment and optimism, despite repeated disappointments. This structure serves to set France and Austria apart from the other Great Powers, particularly Prussia and Russia, in order to tentatively suggest that the diplomatic and foreign-policy cultures of ancien- régime Habsburg–Bourbon Europe anticipated the international order of the 19th Century.

  • The Czechs and the Lands of the Bohemian Crown
7 Reform, Revolution, and Reaction The accession of Charles VI’s daughter, Maria Theresa—the first woman to reign over the Czechs since the legendary Libusˇe—marked another watershed in the development of the Bohemian crownlands and the Habsburg monarchy. The power of the Bohemian Estates had been bro- ken after the White Mountain, but the institutions of the Estates monar- chy had continued to exist, even if in attenuated form. With the loss of Spain in 1714, the center of gravity of the Habsburg realm shifted to Central Europe. But it was under Maria Theresa (1740–1780) that con- certed and continuous efforts began to forge a unified, centralized, bu- reaucratically administered realm at least out of the non-Hungarian pos- sessions of the monarch.1 For the remainder of the monarchy’s existence the Bohemian crownlands would be treated more or less as one province among many.2 At the outset, however, it seemed more likely that the monarchy itself would melt down altogether in the crucible of war into which Frederick II of Prussia plunged it a scant two months after Charles VI’s death. .......................... 10888$ $CH7 08-05-04 15:18:41 PS PAGE 83 84 THE CZECHS THE BOHEMIAN CROWNLANDS IN THE WARS OF THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY (1740–1790) In December 1740, Prussia invaded Silesia, a Bohemian crown- land since John of Luxemburg, defeated the Austrian armies, and occu- pied most of the province. Frederick’s victory spawned a coalition of Charles Albert of Bavaria, Frederick Augustus III of Saxony and Poland, and Philip V of Spain, supported by his French nephew, Louis XV, each of whom had designs on the Habsburg inheritance.

Tou, University of Washington 1900 Commerce St., Tacoma, WA 98402 [email protected] Abstract At the outbreak of the Seven Years' War in 1756, Leonhard Euler (1707-1783) was a successful and prolific scholar at the Berlin Academy of Sciences, well on his way to producing many significant contributions to 18th century science and mathematics. However, once the war began his opportunities were sharply curtailed. Most of the war did not go well for Prussia, and Euler's place in the midst of this conflict limited his ability to publish his work. With the Euler Archive available online, Gustaf Enestr¨om'sindex may be analyzed more deeply to uncover the effects of the conflict on Euler's life and work. In particular, we will see how Euler relied on his ties to the St.

Wilson University of Hull Various source media, State Papers Online EMPOWER™ RESEARCH Frederick II was Prussia's third and longest reigning powers to join his attempt to dismember the Habsburg king. His lifetime (1712-86) saw the kingdom rise from monarchy. By 1742, Frederick was able to leave the war a third-rank state to one of Europe's five 'great powers' temporarily, having secured Austria's grudging alongside Britain, France, Russia, and Austria. At the acceptance of Silesia's loss. However, fears that time of his birth, his grandfather Frederick I ruled only Austria was recovering prompted Frederick to as 'king in Prussia', a title conferred by the Holy Roman intervene again in alliance with France in 1744.[3] The Emperor, Leopold I, in 1700 in return for Prussia's ensuing succession of convincing victories, this time support for Austria during the War of the Spanish secured under his direct and skilful command, Succession (1701-14). Prussia's royal status was convinced Austria to cede Silesia definitively to Prussia generally recognised internationally at the Peace of in 1745.[4] Utrecht in 1713, but it continued to rank as inferior to Prussia was able to enjoy peace while most of the rest other monarchies; something that rankled Frederick II of Europe fought on for another three years. However, throughout his own reign. Frederick's father, Frederick Frederick rightly guessed that the Austrian Habsburgs William I, did little to improve Prussia's international would try to recover Silesia and roll back Prussian standing during his reign (1713-40), but did strengthen influence.

REGIO Ideological and Territorial Cohesion of Silesia vol. 3 eds Lucyna Harc, Przemysław Wiszewski, Rościsław Żerelik Silesia under the Authority of the Hohenzollerns (1741–1918) (1741–1918) Silesia under the Authority of Hohenzollerns vol. 3 Silesia under the Authority This volume contains a collection of studies which are the product of research of the Hohenzollerns (1741–1918) on the formation of Silesia as a region in the period 1740-1918. It is another portion of the summary of research undertaken by a team of Polish historians in conjunction with their participation in the programme of the European Science Foundation entitled Cuius regio. An analysis of the cohesive and disruptive forces determining the attachment and commitment of (groups of) persons to and the cohesion within regions. The project’s assumptions were for original analyses to be conducted on five factors significant in the functioning of the region: administration (Paweł Jaworski), economy (Teresa Kulak), social groups (Wanda Musialik and Dorota Schreiber-Kurpiers), ethnic issues (Dorota Schreiber-Kurpiers) and the national and cultural identity of the region’s inhabitants (Teresa Kulak). In each of the spheres analysed in this book, what has been demonstrated is the prevalence of disintegrating factors in the region from the period of its seizure by the armies of Frederick II until the conclusion of World War I. Top-down efforts undertaken by the authorities aimed at integrating the region with the Prussian state, and then with the Reich, did not fully achieve their objectives. The split into the two sub-regions of Upper and Lower Silesia would seem to be inevitable, in spite of particular unifying elements, particularly in the economic sphere during the second half of the 19ʰ and beginning of the 20ʰ century.
