The Copenhagen public transport network operates 24 hours day, with special train, metro and bus services covering the night and early hours. Most ticket types can be used on all forms of public transport in and around the capital, including Metro, rail, buses and harbour buses.

How to get around Copenhagen

From the airport to Copenhagen: The quickest route from the airport to Copenhagen is via regional train or Metro. Take the train if you want to head to Copenhagen Central Station quickly, or jump on the driverless Metro system if you want to go to the equally central Nørreport Station.

From both Copenhagen Central Station and Nørreport Station you can easily get to the Royal Danish Library’s location in , at the Danish School of Education (DPU) and Aarhus University Library. The quickest route in both cases is via the so-called S-train system (the Copenhagen local trains serving the Copenhagen urban area).

From Copenhagen Central Station to the Royal Danish Library (Emdrup): By S-train: Go to platform 9-10 and take the green line towards Farum. Get off at Emdrup Station. Walk from Emdrup Station to DPU, building D.

From Nørreport Station to the Royal Danish Library (Emdrup): By S-train: Go to the S-train platform and take the green B line towards Farum. Get off at Emdrup Station. Walk from Emdrup Station to DPU, building D.

By bus: Take bus 42 towards Emdrup Torv and get off at Emdrup St. (Lersø Parkallé). Walk from Emdrup St. (Lersø Parkallé) to DPU, building D.

Tickets

City Pass In Copenhagen, you can choose between two different versions of the City Pass – the City Pass Small and the City Pass Large. The City Pass Small gives you unlimited access to buses, trains, metro and harbour buses in zones 1 - 4, which includes the center of Copenhagen and to and from the airport. Meanwhile, the City Pass Large let you travel unlimited in zones 1 – 99, which includes Roskilde, Elsinore and other destinations in Northern Zealand. The City Pass is valid for 24, 48, 72, 96 or 120 hours.

You can buy all City Pass tickets in the DSB ticket machines at the train stations, in DSB Salg & Service at Copenhagen Central Train Station or on the website www.citypass.dk.

Single trip tickets You can purchase tickets at most train stations (in the ticket sale at Copenhagen Central Station and in 7-Eleven at the station) and from the ticket machines at the train stations and the metro stations. The machines accept Danish coins and all major credit cards. You can also buy a ticket on the bus, but you need to pay in Danish kroner. Alternatively you can purchase a ticket by downloading DSB App for local tickets in and around Copenhagen. Choose English as the language in the app. The app is available for iPhone and Android.

Zone tickets cost between DKK 24 (for 2 zones) and DKK 84 (for 8 zones). 2 zones will cover most travel in Copenhagen city centre.
