About Voce: Its Mission and Its Musicians After working with Voce in April, 2008, Morten Lauridsen – the most widely performed composer in the – had this to say about Voce: “Voce is clearly already in the upper echelon of American chamber choirs. During my recent residence with the ensemble I was constantly astonished at the level of artistry displayed by both the singers and their conductor, Mark Singleton. I have no doubt that this superb chorus will soon be recognized throughout the United States as exemplifying choral performance at its finest.” Mr. Lauridsen then returned in 2009 to record an entire CD of his works with Voce. Voce’s musicians are committed to using their talents to make a difference in the community. Since its inception in May, 2006 Voce has sponsored concerts for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity, Latino Community Services, Loaves & Fishes Ministries, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Operation Fuel. In all, Voce has helped to raise more than $50,000 for these charities.

About Mark Singleton, Artistic Director Known for his compelling musicianship and leadership, Mark Singleton has become one of New England’s most sought-after conductors. In addition to serving as the Artistic Director of Voce, Mark serves as the Director of Music at Immanuel Congregational Church, and Chorus Director of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus in New London, CT. Mark holds an undergraduate degree in Cello Performance and Church Music from William Jewell College and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Connecticut. He has pursued additional conducting studies at the Robert Shaw Festival, the Dennis Keene Choral Festival and the Conductors Institute of South Carolina. His principal conducting teachers include Dr. Peter Bagley, Charles Bruffy and Dr. Phillip C. Posey. Mark has served as guest clinician, teacher and conductor for festivals and workshops throughout the United States, China, Europe and Africa. He has prepared choruses and served as guest conductor for many orchestras including the National Symphony of China, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Liberty Symphony Orchestra, Arcadiana Symphony Orchestra and the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra. Mark has been described by his teacher and mentor Dr. Peter Bagley as an “exceptional talent.” Most recently, American composer and recipient Morten Lauridsen described his work as “exemplifying choral performance at its finest.”

About Pamela Perry, Director CCSU University Singers As the Professor of Choral Music Education and Director of Choral Activities at Central Connecticut State University, Dr. Perry teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in choral music education, and directs the CCSU University Singers. She joined the faculty at CCSU in 1990, and founded the University Singers in 1992. She was the Director of the CCSU Summer Music Institute from 1994- 2010. Prior to CCSU, she was the Director of Choral Activities at the Hartt School, University of Hartford. After graduating from Wheaton College (IL) she taught music in public schools in Illinois and Vermont. Dr. Perry is a frequent guest conductor at regional and all-state choral festivals, serves as an adjudicator and clinician for choral festivals and in public schools. She has been the recipient of several teaching awards, most notably the Connecticut ACDA “Conductor of the Year” award, and membership to the “Excellence in Teaching” Honor Roll at CCSU in 1996, 2007 and 2008. She received the CCSU Distinguished Service Award in 2006. Dr. Perry attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and Wheaton College, Wheaton Illinois, for her undergraduate degree in music education. She holds a Master of Science in Music Education from the University of Illinois, and a Doctor of Music Arts degree from the Hartt School, Hartford, Connecticut.
