The reservoir is controlled by and is a great spot for camping, boating, fishing and hiking.

FISHING “THE MILE”

The Miracle Mile, or as locals call it– the Mile– has a reputation for amazing fly fishing. And it is well-deserved. With a near-even split of rainbow and brown trout, this famous stretch of the North Platte river boasts unlikely conditions that make for a fly-fishing photo by Trent Tatum perfect storm. With a huge variety of food sources for the trout, it’s no wonder it hosts around 4,000 fish per mile, some of which grow up to 25-30 inches.

Fun fact: the Miracle Mile is actually longer than a mile. It can range anywhere from 5-8 miles, depending on water levels. Which means there’s plenty of room to spread out from other anglers and catch your trophy trout.
