Raising the prices of commodities under the pretext of diesel subsidy cut is unjustifiable,” Al- Mudej said Thursday, noting that diesel subsidy cut will not apply on local factories. In a quick reaction to the government’s deci- sion to increase diesel prices by the beginning of 2015, many local construction companies immediately informed their clients that they have increased the prices of their materials even without notifying the ministry of commerce and industry. Some local ready-mix companies increased prices by KD 3.5/KD4.5 per cubic meter of con- crete blaming the increase on cut in diesel sub- sidy.
