I will have to apologise for this “divide and conquer attitude” of the NRC. Up until last week the nearest drop in, as so called, was at Waitangi on Monday 10th April and because of the time restraints only 21 days submissions closed we asked them to come to Doves Bay to have a normal meeting where they would address us and questions asked from the floor. This request was re- fused and therefore we had to agree to their format. NRC has contacted us since the meeting where they have suggested that any members that did not get their questions answered to submit a written question to the club’s office. They are prepared to come back and address the written questions. I hope I can rally the clubs in the BOI to make submissions on the NRC marine pathway management plan. I attended with Melanie, a meeting at Opua with all the marina reps in the NRC region to collate a response to the NRC Marine Pathway. I urge all boat owners to put a submission in, as this is your only opportunity to voice your opinion on the selected charge and implantation. -

History of the Finn
History of the Finn The Finn www.Finnclass.org The Finn was born from the hand of Swedish canoe designer Rickard Sarby in 1949 as his entry in a design competition to select a new monotype dinghy for the 1952 Olympics Games in Helsinki, Finland. Whatever else he was thinking on that day, he cannot have imagined that sailors across the whole world would still be enjoying and racing the same design 60 years later. In 2012 the Finn will be sailed for the 16th time at an Olympic Games and is the longest serving dinghy in the Olympic Regatta. For over six decades this thoroughbred singlehanded dinghy has had an incalculable influence on the sailing world, being a blend of a popular club boat, Olympic legend and teacher of many top sailors. The Finn is one The First Finn, first time afloat in 1949 of the survivors of the sailing world. It has survived numerous re-selections of Olympic classes and 60 years of careful technical development, from the wooden hulls, wooden masts and cotton sails of the 1950s to the GRP hulls, to the carbon masts and kevlar sails of the 1990s. It has sustained criticism over the years for being hard to sail and expensive to campaign but it has always won through. And in spite of all this it has strengthened its position as the world's premier dinghy for tactical as well as technical singlehanded sailing. If the Finn has proved one thing, it is that change for the sake of change is rarely a good idea. -

Update: America's Cup Only the Top of The
maxon motor Australia Pty Ltd Unit 1, 12 -14 Beaumont Rd. Mount Kuring -Gai NSW 2080 Tel. +61 2 9457 7477 [email protected] www.maxongroup.net.au August 21, 2019 The AC75 is one of the most futuristic sailing boats in history and could be the fastest monohull ever by the time America’s Cup racing wraps up in 2021. Its extreme design is pushing the engineers and designers to the limits of current technology, but the 3 6th America’s Cup is not just a technology race. The AC75 will be challenging and demanding to sail, with decisive race manoeuvres difficult to execute, making the demand on the sailors greater than ever before. To achieve the maximum performance, an America’s Cup sailor needs to be among the best. It’s no coincidence then that collectively, America’s Cup teams won 11 medals in the last 3 months. World races such as the European Championships, the World Cup Series and iconic Olympic regattas like the Trofeo Princesa Sofia. One of Challenger of Record’s k ey sailors Francesco “Checco” Bruni won the Moth European Champion- ship in Portugal at the end of May, with new team member Ruggero Tita, earning the bronze medal in the Nacras during last week’s World Cup Series Final in Marseille. Giles Scott, INEOS Te am UK tactician and Britain's brightest Olympic sailing hope, is the 2019 Finn Euro- pean Champion and also won the Silver at Trofeo Princesa Sofia in Palma di Mallorca in April. The Defender has a few golden boys as well.
