SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC IDP Spontaneous Returns November 2020 IDP (WoS) Task Force November 2020 updates Governorate summary In November 2020, the humanitarian community recorded some 18,000 spontaneous IDP return 5K Idleb 5K movements across Syria. Over 10,000 of these (55 percent) occurred within and between Aleppo and 5K Idleb governorates. This may have been enabled by the lower levels of shelling observed in northwest 5K Syria in November compared to preceding months, facilitating people moving back to their Aleppo 5K communities of origin in southern Idleb and western Aleppo governorates from which they were 5K previously displaced. 4K At the sub-district level, Jebel Saman sub-district in Aleppo governorate received the highest number Hama 4K 4K of spontaneous return movements in November, with around 1,600 returns, while Ehsem sub-district in Idleb governorate and Bulbul sub-district in Aleppo governorate received some 1,500 and 1,400 1K Rural Damascus 1K spontaneous IDP return movements respectively. More than 1,200 spontaneous IDP return 1K movements each were received by Jisr-Ash-Shugur sub-district in Idleb governorate and Hamra sub- 1K district in Hama governorate over the same period. Homs 345 85% 345 At the community level, Aleppo city in Aleppo governorate and Hamra town in Hama governorate of IDP spontaneous each received some 1,000 returns – the most return movements recorded in November. Halfaya 1K returnee arrıvals Deir-ez-Zor town in Hama governorate and Atareb town in Aleppo governorate each received around 800 return 175 175 occurred within movements, while Homs town in Homs governorate and Sarmin and Marj Elzohur towns in Idleb governorate 41 governorate each received some 500 return movements.
