BE IT REMEMBERED, at a regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Dallas County, Texas, held on the 30th day of September 2014, on a motion made by Dr. Elba Garcia, Commissioner of District 4, and seconded by, Dr. Theresa Daniel ComrJissioner of the following Resolution was adopted:

WHEREAS, Becky Muiioz-Diaz has spent more than thirty years in broadcast sales, management and operations. She has a strong track record of growing ratings and revenue, and developing strategic planning for all aspects of TV and radio station operations. Her experience includes working in the and Dallas broadcast markets with both English and Spanish-language media; and

WHEREAS, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio and Television Communications from the University of Houston; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Muiioz-Diaz began working in the broadcasting industry in Houston with three start-up stations in the area that included KTXH-TV (Grant Broadcasting), KXTJ-FM (EI Dorado Radio), and KTMD-TV () and was responsible for establishing them in their respective markets; and

WHEREAS, in November of 1995 Mrs. Muiioz-Diaz was positioned as General Manager and Vice President at KUVN-TV Channel 23 and UniMas KSTR Channel 49 in Dallas; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Becky Mufioz-Diaz, Univision 23 has been the top-rated Spanish language television station in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area. In addition, the station has created marketing strategies for advertisers to reach out to the Latino community including the creation of segroents such as "23 a Su Lado" (23 on Your Side), "Desde Ia Comunidad" (From the Community), "Linea Abierta" (Open Line), as well as Univision events like the annual Tamale Festival (now Festival Univision) and Copa Univision soccer tournament; and

WHEREAS, during her time in Dallas, Mrs. Munoz-Diaz has served on numerous boards that include the Texas Association of Broadcasters, Communities in School and the Regional Dallas Chamber of Commerce. She is past Chair of the Senior Source of Dallas and past President of the Hispanic l 00. She currently serves on the advisory committee of the Ad Council of America for North Texas, the executive advisory board of the University of North Texas, School of Communications, the advisory council of LIFT and the communication committee for the AT&T Performing Arts Center. She is a long time member of American Women in Radio and Television; and

WHEREAS, some of the awards that Becky Mufioz-Diaz has received throughout her career include: 2009 Dallas Business Journal Minority Business Leader Award, 2011 Inspiring Women of the Southwest Award, 2013 Influential Women of Texas from the National Diversity Council and 2014 Ford Mujeres Legendarias:

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Dallas County Commissioners Court does hereby recognize and congratulate Becky Munoz-Diaz for 19 years of dedicated service at KUVN Univision Dallas and the Dallas/Ft. Worth community.
