Junior Major and Chromatic Scales
All scales are to be played as designated. Do not exceed the range or tempo specified. All scales are to be memorized. Diatonic Scales: 1. All major scales are to be played in this pattern. (MM quarter note = 96) (Feb 2002)
2. Scales will be called for by pitch name, not concert pitch.
Chromatic Scale: 1. Chromatic scale should be played in sixteenth notes (minimum MM quarter note = 72) 2. Chromatic scale should be slurred ascending, repeating the top note, and staccato descending. Flute:
• two octave scales: C, Db, D, Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb • Chromatic scale from lowest G to highest G (two octaves)
Oboe:
• one octave scales: Db, D, Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb • two octave scale: C • Chromatic scale from lowest C to highest C (two octaves)
Bassoon:
• one octave scales: Eb, F, G, Ab • two octave scales: Bb, C, Db, D • Chromatic scale from lowest Bb to highest Bb (two octaves)
Bb Soprano Clarinet:
• two octave scales: D,G,C,F,Bb,Eb,A,E (lowest two octaves) • Chromatic scale from lowest E to highest E (three octaves)
Alto and Eb Contra Bass Clarinet
• one octave scales: A,C,D,Bb,B • two octave scales: E,F,G • Chromatic scale from lowest Eb to highest Eb (two octaves)
Bass and Bb Contra Bass Clarinet:
• one octave scales: D,C,Bb,A • two octave scales: G,F,Eb,E • Chromatic scale from lowest Eb to highest Eb (two octaves)
Alto and Baritone Saxophone:
• one octave scales: G,A,Bb (upper 8va), B (upper 8va) • two octave scales: C,D,F,E • Chromatic scale from lowest D to highest D (two octaves)
Tenor Saxophone
• one octave scales: G,Bb (upper 8va), A • two octave scales: C,D,Eb,E,F • Chromatic scale from lowest D to highest D (two octaves) Cornet/Trumpet:

Snare Drum:
