Aviation in France (I) The aviation industry of France is the biggest in Europe with activities expected to double within the next 20 years. France is one of few countries in the world to cover the whole field of aviation; transport and business aircraft construction, helicopters, engines, airports and airlines. The air transport sector makes a major contribution to the French economy, and the sector is estimated to employ +320.000 people in France. In addition, 410.000 jobs are created in the direct supply chain industry contributing with around 600 billion DKK equal to ~3.3% of the total French economy. France is home to some of the largest airlines (Air France/KLM) and the largest airports in Europe (Charles de Gaulle, Orly, Lyon), as well as some of the biggest groups of private international airport operators in the world: E.g. Group ADP and VINCI Airport Group. Both the French civil aerospace industry and the supply chain industry grew around 6% from 2016 to 2017, and the industry is expected to continue its rapid grow in the years to come. Aviation in France (II) World-class airports and airlines There are 136 airports in France, which count for almost a third of all airports in the European Union, making France a global air traffic hub. France has two airports among the top 100 in the world; Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport and Orly Airport. Charles de Gaulle is the 2nd largest European airport for passenger traffic (1st for freight traffic), and 9th in the world, serving over 100 airlines. Charles de Gaulle hosts the Air France hub, which is the national carrier of France and the third largest airline in the world in terms of countries served. Air France is a full service global airline that flies to 20 domestic destinations and 150 international destinations in 83 countries across all six major continents. A green trend in France France is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and is taking action to change behaviour in the aviation industry. The French airport integrator VINCI Airports is the first international airport consortium to have committed 100% of its airports to the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA), an independent, institutionally endorsed global standard for carbon management at airports. Furthermore, France has developed a complete guidebook for sustainable airports called “Sustainable Airport Areas, Guidelines for Decision Makers”, thereby being international frontrunners on the green trend within aviation. Paris Air show 2019 Part of the delegation programme will be to visit and set up meetings at the 53rd International Paris Air Show 2019 on June 19. During the show, we will be meeting with actors from both airlines and airports as well as participate in seminars relevant for the participating companies. The International Paris Air Show is organised by the SIAE, a subsidiary of GIFAS, the French Aerospace Industries Association. The event is the largest and longest-running aerospace trade show in the world, and it brings together all the players in the global industry around the latest technological innovations. Since its launch, the show has been at the very heart of developments in the global aerospace market, which is why it has become the most important meeting place over the years. The 53rd show takes place from the 17th to 23rd of June 2019 at the Exhibition Centre of Le Bourget, a few kilometres North of Paris. The first four days of the Show are reserved for trade visitors..
