ADMISSIONS TO UNDERGRADUATE COURSES (2021-2022) BROCHURE ABOUT THE COLLEGE Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy Women’s College, RBVRRWC which is commonly known to the public as Reddy College, was established in 1954 by Hyderabad Mahila Vidhya Sangham (HMVS) - a non- profit educational society with a vision to empower women, especially those from rural areas, through

quality education. The College is the second oldest women’s college in the city of Hyderabad. The College owes its existence to the foresight of Sri. Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy, Kotwal of the erstwhile , who believed that modern education is the most appropriate vehicle for emancipation and advancement of women. His vision was translated to reality by the untiring efforts of Sri Burgula Ramakrishna Rao, the first Chief Minister of erstwhile Hyderabad State, Shri Madapati Hanumantha Rao, former Mayor of Hyderabad and Chairman of the Legislative Council A.P, and Shri K.V. Ranga Reddy, former Deputy Chief Minister of A.P, who were the pioneers in propagating women education in the State. This legacy of noble service to women education has been continued by successive managements comprising of Judges, Professors and other people of eminence in the field of education.

The College had the rare privilege of welcoming Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of , who laid the foundation stone on 3rd January 1954; Dr. S. Radha Krishnan, former President of India, who inaugurated the College building on 6th January 1955; and Smt. Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister, who inaugurated the Hostel Building on 28th July 1965. The visit of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, on 5th August 2005 to address the students on the eve of ‘Golden Jubilee Celebrations’ is yet another landmark in the history of the College.

The College is recognized by UGC under 2(f) and 12(b); affiliated to Osmania University; conferred Autonomous status by UGC since 1989; selected by UGC as a ‘College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)’since 2010; accredited with “A” Grade by National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) from 2007 to 2017;and was awarded B++ grade in 2018 in the changed accreditation procedure of NAAC.

The College is centrally located in the City of Hyderabad with a lovely and sprawling campus; 6 buildings; 48 classrooms; 31 science laboratories; 13 staff rooms and a campus hostel for students from rural areas. Presently, 17 different UG programs and 5 PG programs are offered under Semester and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). Eligibility for Admission to UG Courses:

a) Only women candidates of Indian Nationality/Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders; and those allotted by Osmania University under “Foreign Student” category are eligible for admission. b) Candidate should have applied for admission in the prescribed form and fulfilled all the eligibility conditions. c) Candidates should have passed Intermediate (+2) examination or any equivalent examination as recognized by the Government of , with a minimum aggregate of 40% marks (36% in case of SC/ST candidates) in the optional subjects. i. Candidates of any stream (Social Sciences/Science/Commerce) in intermediate are eligible for admission to B Com. However, candidates who have studied commerce as an optional subject will be given preference. 60% of the total number of available seats in B. Com shall be reserved for the candidates who studied and passed the qualifying examination with Commerce as the main subject. ii. Candidates of any stream (Social Sciences/Science/Commerce) in intermediate are eligible for admission to B A, BBA and BBM Programs. iii. Candidates who passed the Intermediate examination, or its equivalent, in ‘one attempt’ shall be given preference in admission compared to those who passed in compartmental. Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination compartmentally shall be considered for admission, only after all the candidates who passed in single attempt under the respective category of Undergraduate Course are accommodated. iv. Only students from BPC background can apply for the following courses - B.Sc (BZC, MZC, FnBC, FnZC, BtCFs). v. Only students from MPC background can apply for the following courses - B.Sc (MPC, MPCs, MECs)

Rules of Reservation:

a) Local: 85% of the available seats in each course shall be reserved for the local candidates as specified in the Telangana State Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) Order,1974(G.O.No.646, dated 10.7.1979, and generally referred to as the Presidential Order, 1974). b) Statutory: Admissions in each course are made in accordance with the following statutory reservations prescribed by the Government, and as per the rules in vogue.

c) In case the required numbers of eligible candidates are not available in a given reserved category, the vacant seats shall be filled by candidates from other categories (by internal sliding), as per the rules, so as to maintain the overall percentage of statutory reservations prescribed by the Government. If seats remain vacant in a reserved category even after internal sliding, they shall be filled by candidates from open category.

Application for admission: a) Candidates should apply for admission in online from the college website www.rbvrrwomenscollege.net. . b) Candidates desirous of applying for more than one program (B A / B Sc / B Com / BBM / BBA) should apply separately by payingRs.300/- for each program. c) Candidates should pay the prescribed ‘Registration Fee’ of Rs.300/- for a program, and submit the application form along with the Xerox copies of the following certificates in the college. i. Pass Certificate of the Intermediate or its equivalent examination, and SSC / CBSE / ICSE, issued by the competent authorities, indicating the date of birth (DoB) of the applicant. ii. Memorandum of Marks showing the individual and aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination. iii. Transfer Certificate issued by the institution where the candidate studied last. iv. Proof of Study in the past four (4) years immediately preceding the qualifying examination in order to claim Local status. v. Caste Certificate issued by the concern M.R.O if claiming reservation under BC/ SC/ ST quota. vi. NCC/ Sports/ CAP/ PH certificate issued by the competent authority, if claiming reservation under any of these quota(s). vii. Income Certificate of the Parent issued by the concerned M.R.O for the current financial year.

Admission Procedure:

a) The candidates will be selected for admission in each category of open and other statutory reservations based on merit at the qualifying examination. b) Percentage of aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination shall be the basis for determining the merit of the candidate. In case of tie, the candidate who got higher marks in English will be preferred. In case of a further tie, the person who is older in age will be selected. c) The provisional list of selected candidates for admission shall be displayed on the Notice Board in the College, and also on the College website (www.rbvrrwomenscollege.net). No separate and individual intimation will be sent to the applicants. d) The candidates selected for admission are required to meet the Principal along with their Parents/Guardians for counseling. e) Selected candidates should submit their original certificates in the college office for verification. Admission to the first year 3-YDC shall be granted only after verification of the details mentioned in the application, and the original certificates/documents submitted by the candidate. f) The college reserves the right to cancel the admission at any stage if the particulars, certificates / documents etc. submitted by the candidate are found to be incorrect/false. g) The Candidate in any programme in the College should put in a minimum of Seventy Five Percent (75%) attendance (65% with medical certificate) in each semester to be eligible for appearing in the semester end examination.

It is an In-house production and a pioneering work done in the College. COMPUTER BASED TEACHING AND TESTING (CBTT) - (CBTT) has been designed by the department of English and is a pure Online Examination which gives students a unique chance to practice and take a test which is similar to GRE, TOEFL and IELTS. National Cadet Corps (NCC): NCC was started during Academic year 2000.The college is assigned one company of NCC cadets of 200 students.

National Service Scheme (NSS): There are two units of NSS volunteers comprising of 200 undergraduate students in the college. NSS volunteers of the college participate in various outreach programs proposed by the State Government.

Certified Voluntary Work (CVW): Under CBCS system the college introduced Certified Voluntary Work as an activity carrying one credit. College entered into an MoU with an NGO for conducting outreach program activities by the students of CVW unit.
