Agricultural Marketing and Financing in Zambia: Reflections from Tanzania with Dr. Simon Manda

This series of Monday Opinion has concentrated on realities and challenges of agriculture finance and marketing among small-scale farmers in Zambia. Last week, I delved into what should be done by state and non-state actors to strengthen support in credit and marketing for small-scale farmers in Zambia in order to drive an agenda for national growth and poverty reduction. We set out the realities and challenges of agricultural marketing in their broader sense. In this article, I will delve into how agriculture marketing and financing can be improved. I will draw on regional experiences such as from Tanzania in order to highlight Zambia’s own efforts around agriculture marketing and financing.
