    2. Description of Development The Introduction 2.1 The application seeks detailed consent for a bottling plant totalling 15,060 sq. metres, including 660 sq. metres of offices, ancillary car and cycle parking, together with a new access road off the A6. In addition, the proposals include a heritage visitor centre of 260 sq. metres with an associated heritage trail within the quarry area. 2.2 Access to the site will be from the A6 which will be in full compliance with current Highway Standards and Codes of Practice allowing all vehicles, including HGV’s to enter and exit the site safely. The Application Area 2.3 The red line planning application site extends to a total of 10ha and comprises a large part of the disused Cowdale Quarry together with the adjoining area extending to the A6 across which the new access road is proposed to be constructed. 2.4 The quarry is located approximately 2.0 km east of Buxton Town Centre, bordered by the A6 to the north, the remainder of the quarry to the east and agricultural land beyond the quarry on the remaining boundaries. The groups of dwellings that form Cowdale Village are a short distance to the south east and Staden Business Park is a short distance to the south west. Description of the Physical Characteristics of the Development 2.5 The development will include: a) The Bottling Plant which comprises a total gross floor area of 15,060 m2, with office and welfare facilities in a two storey element containing a total of 660m2 floorspace and the main plant area for production and warehousing at 14,370m2.

    COMMITTEE Llŷn AONB Joint Advisory Committee DATE November 18th 2020 TITLE Llŷn AONB Projects PURPOSE Inform Members AUTHOR AONB Officer RECOMMENDATION Accept the Information 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 This reports provides information to JAC members on projects that have recently been caried out by the AONB Unit, Countryside Service. 1.2 Unfortunately due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the restrictions that were imposed it was not possible to proceed with some projects that had been planned for this year. This included work on marine and coastal litter in partnership with Keep Wales Tidy and establishing a volunteer Group. However a series of projects have been completed. 2.0 RECENT PROJECTS 2.1 Invasive Species – work proceeded in partnership with NRW to tackle the Giant Hogweed on the Soch river. A professionnal contractor was commissioned to stem inject the Hogweed. The hope is that this invasive species can be completely eradicated from this part of Llŷn soon. 2.2 Recycling bins - in order to promote recycling and lessen the ammount of waste going into landfill the AONB Unit has introduced 3 new recycling bins within the designated area. After consultation with local members and the Council’s Borough Services it was decided to locate the bins at : - the Foel Gron picnic site, Mynytho - near the public toilets at Abersoch - by the bus shelter at Trefor The recycling bins have containers to collect glass, paper, plastic bottles and also general waste. We have high hopes that these bins will prove a success and are considering installing additional ones in the future.

It also includes an assessment of the economy which includes agriculture, fishing, other rural enterprises and tourism. A comprehensive assessment of resources is an essential part of the Management Plan. This will measure any changes in the unique attributes of the area and the success of the Management Plan. 4.1.2 Ideally, a Management Plan should include an assessment of all the qualities or resources according to “their nature, character, quality, extent and condition” (AONB Management Plans CCW, 2001). However, the ability to undertake detailed analysis is often hampered by lack of resources and information about many of these qualities. The main problem in obtaining detailed information about the extent and condition of resources within the Llñn AONB were as follows: ● lack of information – in terms of measuring the resource and/or its condition, ● lack of specific information for the AONB, ● no up to date information, ● resources that are difficult to measure e.g. scenery, culture. 4.1.3 The most up to date information that was available was used for the assessment and any gaps in information are noted. The identification of gaps in information is an important part of the Management Plan and may be adopted as a future aim or action in the Plan’s Action Programme. 4.1.4 This Management Plan seeks to identify, define and assess the special qualities of the area as effectively as possible under the circumstances.
